I worked at United Airlines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

An Ex-continental employee. Opportunities for growth were accessible prior to the 2009 merge. Strong sense of teamwork and leadership among management and employees. Freedom to build your own schedule and pay with employee shift trades. Overall, there is an opportunity to learn a lot from this company.

    Cons

High physical labor demands, long work hours, the working together environment diminished post merge, most of the kind/hardworking people left or retired leaving lazy and careless individuals in high positions; hopefully this has changed!

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees and invest in them accordingly as they are the foundation and backbone of the organization.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Challenging environment. Depending on the individual leadership and department, you can feel quite satisfied day to day that you've contributed to a good company.

    Cons

Since the merger there has been an increase in bias to individuals from the CO side of the business. There are good people on both sides of the merger, but its saddening when the CO side has larger pay increases than UA personnel.

I worked at United Airlines (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, mostly nice people who work hard.

    Cons

Some not so nice people who really should not be Managers.

    Advice to Management

360 reviews would be helpful at all levels. Evaluations of managers by those who directly report used to be standard but went away. This should be returned.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time

    Pros

Intense training on all things travel, and the benefits are totally worth the job. Different projects available to work on, and get to do other things.

    Cons

No room to really move up, union, supervisors dont care to help you, all about your numbers, and way to much pressure to up sell.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The best reason to work for is the flight benefits. My coworkers that came from Continental are another, we were always family and stick together.

    Cons

The significant drop in profit sharing for the procurement team along with the continuous decline in moral are alarming. I don't mind working harder, but I prefer a reward when I reach a goal. Saying job well done to someone goes a long way.

    Advice to Management

A happy employee will always work harder for you. A little goodwill to your people brings tremendous respect to you and the company.

The merge between Continental and United is taking way too long.

    Advice to Management

Work hard for the Flight Attendants.
