    I worked at United Biscuits full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Lots of biscuits in the office, strong household brands in the portfolio. Good being able to work from home when required

    Cons

    Horrible working environment. Very cliquey departments who don't like outsiders and people constantly looking for others to blame for their own shortcomings. Terrible management, including (in one particular case) making lists of people and their faults to take along to higher management!

    Advice to Management

    Be careful about how managers treat their direct reports

    not much,apart from the car park of which the management is now working on it

    to do a lot of surveys and consider some employees opinions and concerns in their work environments

    Pros

    Investment in people and training is excellent.

    Cons

    Factory workers treated poorly and looked down upon by management. Long hours and shifts.

    Advice to Management

    The company is performing well and giving higher levels of management excellent bonuses. This recognition is not ever filtered down to the factory workers who work hard to get management their bonus. Annual pay rises have stopped happening and whenever an offer is on the table it is below inflation. Poor - Very poor. In fact disgraceful.

    Get out and look at other companies, other technology. Benchmark best in class.

    I worked at United Biscuits full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Leadership and PACE for UB group. Normal working hours . No weakend working and no overtime.

    Cons

    No leadership in practical. It depends on personal. Habits of saking people fastly. They fired me in the induction program . I was only traying to understand all the sytem and they told me just focus in understanding, don't try to do an improvement now you will have all the time later after induction . But, they account me for my progress and sayd you did nothing!!!

    Advice to Management

    Be carful . Don't apply to any UB as they are facing bankruptcy and reduction on demand every year. The factories outdated a lot of redundant equipment in the shop floor contaminating products.

    Pros

    Great opportunities to travel & learn at your own pace. Invests in its people with relevant training courses available to workers at all levels.

    Cons

    The business is very repetitive & slow to change. It is limited by misaligned functions & ultimately this comes from the demands of its owners Blackstone & PAI to deliver financial results above all else. Lower level & mid level management have very little power in reality. Senior managers get involved in some surprisingly low level operational decisions.

    Advice to Management

    Align each functions objectives for more efficient teams & crossfuctional co-operation. Empower your people to do more.

    Pros

    The pros of working here were the hours were good.Monday to Friday work with weekends off and then there was overtime there if you needed it.depending where you worked the wages were above average.

    Cons

    the company don't care about the employees.they only cared about the goals that were set to achieve profit and they were always unrealistic.when they fall short of the profit goals its the employees fault.some of the leadership in the company are not leaders.they don't know how to talk to people properly and are too busy brown nosing to care whats happening.its also not a company where you have a chance to progress,if your face doesn't fit then you will be overlooked for things,or unless you know the right people.it is a dead end job.plus they use a lot of machinery that need a lot of repairing but they wont spend the money to repair things properly.the cleanliness off the factory and a lot of employees are questionable especially since its involving food.i now tell people dont eat products from united biscuits.

    Advice to Management

    spend money and actually fix things.make the employees feel involved in the goals that are set.no one feels accountable to it because its a bunch of suits that make the goal and expect everyone to be ok with it.take time to know the employees and be more involved with them.be more stringent in the cleanliness of the employees.
