    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsSuccessful Market Leader. Conservative Management Philosophy. Well Run. Highest Ethical Standards, Stands Behind their Products and Services. These attributes made it a pleasure to work for UCC.

ConsConservative Philosophy Sometimes Slowed Decision Making and Constrained Growth.

corporate politics casts dark shadow on otherwise good company

    Manager (Former Employee) Waukegan, IL

ProsThis firm provides steady work in a good market with mostly great people who have strong ethical values and keep to them.

ConsYou need to be with the "in crowd" to make a career here, otherwise just view this place as a stepping stone.
    Pay is slightly below market.

Advice to Senior Managementget rid of the politics and start paying employees closer to market value

Good place to work, but very conservative culture

Mechanical Engineer I (Current Employee) Waukegan, IL

    Pros-Competitive pay
    -Good benefits
    -Excellent work/life balance
-Relaxed environment for the most part
-Reliable job prospect in the long run

Good place to work, especially for someone who is a family person and prioritizes/values family time. The company has a very conservative culture which can be good or bad depending on person's values and priorities.

Cons-Not much upward movement opportunities available.
-Very static work environment. Very narrow scope of work
    - Provides very little training for the job, hence results in a very slow paced learning experience.
    - Lacks on team work. All of the departments are so fragmented from each other

Culture is old, but changing in a slow pace. Complete loyalty, as well as "All American/wholesome" attitude are required to move up. Company should work to provide more dynamic work environment for their new engineers to prepare well rounded professionals/leaders.

Advice to Senior ManagementCompany should focus on to provide more dynamic work environment for their new engineers to prepare well rounded professionals/leaders.

United Conveyor a company moving forward

    Programmer (Current Employee) Waukegan, IL

ProsModern leadership style. Very little micromanagement. The have a business casual work environment, on site health club. The have a profit sharing program, 401k with a match, half day fridays in the summer. Currently the company is in a major business boom. For an engineer (electrical or mechanical) or Project Managers UCC is a good place to work.

ConsThe company is small. In some ways the company is stuck using old processes. For example, keeping records on paper in cabinets. They are not the greatest on training. It is hard to get training approved. Until reciently they have been known for pinching pennies.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management is heading in the right direction. They are working to create change in the company.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
