Pros
Total independence.
Leads, leads, leads, great commisions.
Cons
Promotion potential seems to be iffy.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize your ICA's and their efforts
Pros
They do treat the employees to food- doughnuts, nachos, bagels etc. However, the people who work there are not very friendly.
Cons
Training takes 16 weeks. The trainer went way too fast. Do not bother applying unless you have strong computer skills.
Advice to Senior Management
They should sit in on the training. I received very little help and was very disappointed with the trainer.
Pros
They are constantly hiring and for the Chico area they pay decent. Benefits and vacation time starts accruing immediately. When hired, you are in a training class for approximately 4 months, which is nice because you feel like you actually know how to do your job once they throw you into it.
Cons
They require you to be available all day (5am-8pm) and your schedule changes every few months, so if you have children you will need a childcare provider that is available all day as well. The medical benefits that they offer are terrible. The job itself is depressing! People yell at you all day long and you are expected to take it.
Pros
Great for your resume, very stable organization, company name recognition, pay is great, innovation is encouraged and rewarded, there are a lot of opportunities
Cons
Perhaps too big, hard to get anything done, politics, data is vast but disjointed and difficult to analyze, you're just a number, medical benefits are very poor (surprising), technology is lacking
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize and reward successes in your employees, get to know them as a person, be visible in the office, relate how their work is helping drive the company
Pros
Decent amount of time off. Because they are so big there are lots of positions open at any given time, but good luck posting to a new position.
Cons
For a health insurance company, they don't offer very good or inexpensive coverage for their employees. Very disorganized management - way too many layers of red tape. Frustrating because you don't feel like you accomplish anything as projects get cancelled as you are working on them.
Advice to Senior Management
Instead of having large layoffs, perhaps you could try to place employees into other positions that are open at the time. Be more consistent with your telecommuting policy.
Pros
Excellent pay, fairly good benefits, nice office atmosphere, excellent parking facilities
Cons
Onerous and difficult computer system
Advice to Senior Management
Take more time in guiding new staff for the complicated computer systems
Pros
Compensation is decent; occasional flexibility
Cons
Cut-throat environment, no onboarding and corporate politics run rampant
Advice to Senior Management
Team culture desperately needed
Pros
Flex schedule, good management, good pay, nice people
Cons
Productivity levels have to be maintained
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work
Pros
I've learned alot about health care and corporate culture.
Cons
Poor managment, no support for advancement, regardless of your background or previous experience you are still considered low man on the totem pole, limited advancement opportunties depending on your department and relationship with your manager, inconsistent expectations, little respect for needs of employees as human beings, WORST benefits package I've ever had, $2500 deductibles...in essence I pay into my insurance and get no benefits at all until maybe the end of the year, if that, then the deductible resets.
Advice to Senior Management
Extend respect to your employees, take time to hear their concerns and act on them, the employees are not only workers but also community members...pay attention.
Pros
I have a lot of flexibility in my position and pretty much run my own show BUT...
Cons
The health benefits are HORRIBLE!!! I can't believe an insurance company doesn't offer decent plans to its employees. A single person has a $1600 deductible and cannot even go to the doctor with a simple copay. Maintenance drugs - not covered!!! Must be preventative (whatever that means) and are subject to the $1600 deductible. My friend's son works at a Car Wash and has UHC insurance and his policy is better than hers!!!
Advice to Senior Management
You MUST give some better healthcare options. I'd rather pay $200 a month for a decent plan that covers what I need, when I need it rather than nickel and diming me to death!!
