I have been working at United Hospital System part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Fair compensation for the area. Time off depends on where worked. This is a non union hospital. Seniority is a perk if you have it. Coworkers can make or break the shift, but that's true anywhere.

    Cons

No bonus, no retention bonus. Sometimes a restaurant gift card with x2movie tickets. Upper management: If they don't like you, they ll find a way to get rid of you. Management has their favorites. No career pathways. Education opportunities are limited and no meaningful reimbursement /differential for extra education /certification.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How about showing your senior nurses some love and appreciation? It's bs that new graduates make bonuses and the nurses training them in do not. What are you doing to keep your staff motivated? Why not support continuing education and reward that financially? What ever happened to celebrating your nurses? Healthcare week? C'mon. You know the hospital would not function without nurses. Time to join the 21st century. There's a nursing shortage, what are you doing to support the awesome staff nurses that you have, and presumably would like to retain?

I worked at United Hospital System full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Friendly place to work. Good job security. Co-workers are great to work with as long as you don't need to work with upper management. One of the better and larger employers in Kenosha.

    Cons

Upper management is an good ole boys club. When it benefits UHS they view the company as being part of the Chicago and Milwaukee market, when not (such as for salary surveys) they limit it to Kenosha and its immediately adjacent communities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees as an asset and trust them rather than treat them as a necessary evil that needs to be carefully controlled.

I have been working at United Hospital System part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

the unit I work on was very flexible with my personal schedule. For the most part all the staff are very friendly and willing to help

    Cons

    Upper management.
If you're a new nurse you get shafted and tend to get the harder patient assignment or always get first admission (this happens on certain floors).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to staff. You're burning out your nurses and techs by trying to make your budget cuts
