Former Employee – worked at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – In the beginning, USA had an excellent educational reimbursement program and their health insurance was very good. They were very good to their employees and one had a sense of accomplishment their.
Cons – They are a "one trick pony" that relied on the Shuttle program for their existence. As the space program has declined, so has USA. They tried to diversify, but their hands were tied by their parent companies Boeing and Lockheed.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Coworkers were the most helpful I have ever seen. Challenging, exciting work with some of the most brilliant people in the field. Able to learn from the best and become one of them.
Cons – The company is downsizing due to the end of the shuttle program. Not much more to do except wait for the next program to spool up before the company completely disappears.

Advice to Senior Management – USA has been such a good company that the companies owned it have had difficultly competing against USA for space contracts and is forcing USA out of the equation. The owning companies (they know who they are) should embrace USA,s performance instead & keep USA in the space business & beyond.

Former Employee – worked at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – I worked in an avionics lab in which we took troubleshot, repaired and maintained Space Shuttle Avionics. I found the work environment to be relaxed for the majority of the time but intense when we had mission critical situations.
Cons – The amount of documentation was excessive.
Advice to Senior Management – None

Former Employee – worked at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – The work was amazing. The opportunity to work on, see and fix hardware that went to space and back was amazing. Worked along some of the greatest, most dedicated individuals I have ever encountered.
Cons – From a business persepective, the company was top heavy and fat making it sluggish in response to a changing market; and too expensive to be competitive. Because of it, we could not win enough contracts to employ a majority of the company and it failed.
Advice to Senior Management – Make the hard decisions that will not be good for everyone, but will at least keep the company moving forward as opposed to treading water before drowning.

Former Employee – worked at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – I’ve worked in the Aerospace industry for over 36 years – Minuteman II and III missile guidance and telemetry systems; design, development and testing of the MX/Peacekeeper Missile and the Space Shuttle program. Above all, working for United Space Alliance on our countries Space Shuttle Program was an extremely satisfying job - both professionally and personally. The company had great benefits – medical coverage at a fair cost, further schooling assistance (tuition/books fully paid, with a bonus upon degree completion), career progression opportunities and generous salaries. Employees were truly treated as assets and a valuable resource – this included managers, engineers and technicians/workers at all levels. The company constantly strived for continuous improvements in all phases of processing. It was more than a job it was a career you loved and wish it hadn’t end.
Cons – The Space Shuttle program was retired. Other than that no cons to working for Unitied Space Alliance or the Space Shuttle Program.
Advice to Senior Management – A great model for complex task objectives and how to treat valued employees.

Current Employee – been working at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Large company with matured processes and products. Lots of opportunity for advancement and challenging work prior to the end of the Space Shuttle Program. Overall great management team in Florida.
Cons – Typical government contractor aerospace environment - customer-driven requirements were sometimes unrealistic and frankly didn't make good business sense, but good pay and good co-workers and managers more than made up for it.
Advice to Senior Management – Advice to member company management - you had a well-run company that you didn't have to lift a finger to manage and you reaped millions from it. Where's the business sense in shutting them down? It certainly didn't gain you anything.

Former Employee – worked at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The management and employees were very dedicated in their job performance while working on the NASA Space Shuttle and Ares program.
Cons – The only con is that United Space Alliance did not acquire additional contracts after the completion of the NASA Shuttle and Ares Program and will be closing their doors soon.

Current Employee – been working at United Space Alliance full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Good company to work for overall. They place integrity, work ethic and customer satisfaction at the top of their priorities.
Cons – As the economy worsens, so do the benefits. But when the company started, the benefits were great! In addition, the workforce is still in the dark about the future of the company, that is, whether the joint Boeing-LM venture will be dissolved or not.
