I have been working at United States Beef full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Seems like there might be a lot of opportunity to move up in this market as they are planning an aggressive growth strategy

    Cons

There is a bad way of communicating and it seems like everyone is chasing their tails. The one thing I have gotten out of the communication is that it is VERY clear that you make numbers on GP. Quality seems to be the last thing on their agenda. Just speed and make money at all costs!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be CLEAR and CONSISTENT information! One day it's one way and the next...SURPRISE!! different!! Very stressful work environment. Be a little more appreciative to those who work for you. Remember, you can't live in the penthouse if there isn't a strong foundation!

    Pros

My fellow crew and management at #0685 were awesome and made the job so much easier.
Teaches you a lot about efficiency and other highly marketable skills in the work world.
Very flexible with my school schedule

    Cons

U.S. Beef could care less about it's workers. I worked for the company for two and a half years, was under 18 and was backline certified and not once was I ever given a pay raise. The company also needs to re-think it's upper management system, one week the district manager will come in and tell you to do it one way, the next day the regional manager comes in and yells at you for doing it the wrong way. Basically all of the time I spent there I learned that I never wanted to work in fast food again. It truly was a learning experience

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make strides to make your workers lives better, my experience through Arby's was bad, but I know there are parts of this company that are great. However, one of the most public sides is far from that.

I have been working at United States Beef full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

flexible scheduling, freedom of management style

    Cons

evaluations and raises are given very rarely. promotions are hard to come by once you've reached store manager. District managers take out bad moods on you. every week is a struggle to hit goals unless sales are up. very strict and unforgiving about inventory control, it's counted nightly. Management shifts are next to impossible to cover if someone calls in. Almost impossible to have a hobby like a workout routine or college classes outside of work because the schedule is so different every week, even for a store manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't make excuses and just do what you're asked.

    Pros

This has been the best workplace for stability and growth. The family ownership filters through the leadership to it's employees.

    Cons

Very long and unpredictable hours. Not enough communication.
