I have been working at United Stationers

    Pros

Flexible to needs, lots of opportunities, office being resigned with associates in mind. HR willing to listen to associates, not an automated phone service

    Cons

You might not like an ever changing environment. Some turnover issues in some departments, but most are moving forward.

I worked at United Stationers full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits were pretty good, and there are some good managers at mid-level. Lucky employees end up with one of these good leaders.

    Cons

Even in smaller departments, ambiguity and conflicting priorities rule the day. It's easy to flounder for a long, long time waiting to get clear direction, but taking initiative to lead or decide is politically dangerous.

    I worked at United Stationers

    Pros

    Great Pay
    Ok Benefits
    Great Co-workers
Wonderful opportunities if you are in sales or marketing management

    Cons

Too many political competing agendas at the top
Its the Titanic - hard to get things done, not flexible enough
Ops jobs are thankless for the lower positions, ok for sups and management
Lack of diversity at the top

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen the reigns and trust your associates to make the right decisions for United and the customer. Having to negotiate through a complicated approval matrix of individuals that are tough to track down makes it hard to get things done. I hope your fix that.
