Pros
It is a great place to work and the teams that you work with are very willing to help out.
Cons
One ot the cons as is that pay increases are small in compareison with the rest of the industry overall.
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
UTC still has one of the best overall benefits packages even though the educational assistance program was recently and drastically downsized. There are still great incentives for pursuing higher education and the company's internal training program is world class. There is also good opportunity for experiencing different products and businesses among its many divisions if you're flexible enough. You will work with some of the most intelligent professionals around in nearly every job function and level.
Cons
Nepotism is the norm in recognition and advancement so if you are not related to, or life long friends with an executive "in the loop" promotional opportunities will be limited.
You will still find exciting, leading edge technology here but everything is driven by shareholder profit and the associated executive salaries. The investments in long term technology advancement, product performance, and sense of community responsibility the company was long known for are now clearly secondary to cost reduction and share price priorities.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop following GE lockstep down paths that have proven counterproductive.
Focus more on value added than costs reduced, you'll reap much more customer and employee satisfaction/loyalty.
Pros
Storng leadership team to lead the company.
Cons
Less focus is placed on employees as a financial-driven company. They treat you as a number and a smaller number of employees means a good job of management and more bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management
Since economy is turning around and UTC is making money with a high stock price. Pay you employees fairly, since a regular emplyee will not get a year-end bonus.
Pros
Many challenges and learning opportunities. The company has a bright future in both the aerospace and commercial markets. Was treated fairly well for a new hire.
Cons
Pay could have been better.
Pros
Pay is high
Work rotation
Peer support
Cons
Sometimes management could have done a better job
Advice to Senior Management
Should further increase focus on management talent development in mid-level
Pros
Very honest and ethical approach to business.
Cons
Workload demands are very great.
Pros
have opportunities to work on multiple projects with different business areas
Cons
technical capability shall be acknowledged more.
Advice to Senior Management
good working environment for junior level engineers, have opportunities to grow. however, the career path for senior level people are rather narrow..
Pros
Dynamic business and management. Currently the market leader.
Cons
Hard work. Stress but fulfilling
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work!
Pros
You work with some of the best engineers in the world. Pay and benefits are excellent. The company has a long and proud history and the employees are proud to be associated with the company.
Cons
Senior management is a good old boys club. Limited opportunities for anyone who is not is the club. They will acknowledge excellance but will not promote.
Advice to Senior Management
There are several dedicated employees that deserve a promotion (in pay grade only) that stay only because they love the company. Don't take advantage of them, promote them.
Pros
Great experience for co-ops, most of the co-workers are extremely helpful and want the co-ops to succeed - they understand that co-ops come in with little to no knowledge and are more than willing to help
Cons
They have no real program in place to hire co-ops. They train them well but then when hiring time comes they string the co-ops along saying they want to hire them but they are not sure what positions are available for full time until other companies have snatched them up
