    Pros

There are many very good people with the company, management and below. Starting from entry level you absolutely can quickly be promoted. Including up to a fairly decent point without a degree.

    Cons

Recent reorganizations have removed a large amount of management, upper and lower. Many Managers, Supervisors, and Team Leaders nationally now have so many direct reports that they cannot effectively manage. These decisions came from the very top, and I find it very concerning as the company reached an all time high stock value this week.

    Advice to Management

Don't make sudden leadership changes across all lines of business over night with no foreshadowing, telling the employee's that it is due to various forecasts in the healthcare industry when the stock is on the up, at an all time high. It's tacky.

    Pros

Above average pay for the area

    Cons

Management can be rather difficult to deal w/ & they are constantly chaning the specifics of job requirements

    Advice to Management

Work w/ the employees don't just give blind orders & give realistic expectations.

    Pros

Pays a living wage, decent benefits, full-time, various schedules, rarely ever work weekends (can volunteer when OT is available)

    Cons

It's insurance so you deal w/ people who are generally not happy, you have metrics you have to meet (not usually hard to do)

    Pros

Training was thorough, employees were friendly and people were fairly committed to their work and to the company.

    Cons

Constant monitoring of everything you do, being tethered to a phone all day, getting yelled at by customers, too many different programs to utilize at once, communication after training was lacking, mandatory overtime.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees and fight for them, rather than fighting employees for the company.

May be a good place for your first job - not so much when you have skills and experience

    Pros

The company has a good reputation in the business world so it looks good to have UnitedHealtcare on a resume for future employment opportunities.

    Cons

The internal politics take away from the job at hand. No salary negotiation. Salary is set before taking your skills and experience into consideration.

    Pros

I have worked for a lot of companies and this is by far the best. Decent health insurance, sick leave, vacation and consist schedules. The management I work for is very supportive.

    Cons

You cant save the world and make every customer happy. Some people are just not happy no matter what you do. They take their frustration out on the person wearing the headset.

    Advice to Management

Remember the employees on the front line dont get a lot of time to review new info much less the excessive amount of email you send us. It's nice to try to keep us in the loop, but video/audio communication is a waste of time. I just have to delete it as I am too busy to watch or listen to it. Also, I would be more than happy to work OT more often if there had not been so much Manditory OT for the last year.

    Pros

They are constantly hiring and for the Chico area they pay decent. Benefits and vacation time starts accruing immediately. When hired, you are in a training class for approximately 4 months, which is nice because you feel like you actually know how to do your job once they throw you into it.

    Cons

They require you to be available all day (5am-8pm) and your schedule changes every few months, so if you have children you will need a childcare provider that is available all day as well. The medical benefits that they offer are terrible. The job itself is depressing! People yell at you all day long and you are expected to take it.
