Pros
There was a positive energy at UHG, hard workers, they put serious money into their facilities, the most excellent training I have ever received in my seven years of insurance sales experience. They care about the quality and level of customer service that their members receive (from their sales agents). I've heard conflicting stories in the claims department.
Cons
They lacked a personal touch; poor communication skills. Our commission decreased from $70/per sale to $11/per sale. Instead of setting up a meeting to discuss this with their sales force, they printed out a memo and taped it to our computers. They decreased earnings so much that every sales agent (including me) decided to resign and become an independent agent. Although no one was fired, it was impossible to earn a decent living. I heard that after the sales team left, they did away with the captive field sales rep position and are just using contracted agents.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate to your team. Set obtainable expectations. You do have the best initial training; make sure you follow through as training should be ongoing. You can't learn everything in one month...especially in the ever-changing health insurance industry.
Pros
Very calm and layed back envoirnment.
Cons
Very disorganized. No real training for employees. They expect you to teach yourself
Advice to Senior Management
no oppurtunities
Pros
Great benefits, the prople are friendly and everyone works as a team. We have easy accessible parking, cafe on 1st floor. Definitely worth the communite. Opportunity for overtime is often.
Cons
In my department we have to stay late often with little notice. Some people may not like that however, overtime money is always good. I may not like this so much in the summer but happy to have a job.
Advice to Senior Management
No advice to managment as of yet. I am fairly new but so far, my boss is very down to earth friendly and family oriented which I like.

Pros
Positively impact customers' life by providing products and services that improve their health and general wellness.
Cons
I experienced limited support from management to advance to the next level in my career objectives within the company. Despite having received excellent year appraisals during my 5 years of employment, I was not giving an promotion nor was I allowed to move laterally on to a different role within the organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Employee development has been neglected and most be revitalized.
