Pros
schedules are flexible and United health is a good place to start, to get experience working with customers needs and wants
Cons
the cons would be their is no raises, no health care, no paid vacations. or any kind of promotion in united health care in harlingen
Advice to Senior Management
maybe they should start giving more advancement opportunites or at least some paid vacation , or holidays off would be nice.
Pros
Great company to work for. Many locations across the country. Diversity in the company.
Cons
Great company with some departments being run by clueless leaders. Senior management is not in touch with the reality of the work being done by line workers nor has the skill to direct/guide the workers. Your success depends on how much you are ready to forgo your individuality and agree to everything that your manager has to say. Health plan and benefits suck.
Hiring and attrition are both high. Hiring is done with total disregard to what the person can bring to the table and contribute. It is rather based on who in management knows that person.
Advice to Senior Management
Put checks and balances on who are hired to do a job. Many management positions are filled by clueless people without proper education or experience. An organization of skilled employees cannot be run by clueless management. Don't use the "open door" policy when there isn't anything like an open door policy for discussing issues and concerns. Be engaged with line workers than trust your direct reports to fill you in on their favorite employees.
Pros
The company is predictable and some work is interesting. I think it largely depends on who manages you for how good of an experience it is.
Cons
The health benefits are pretty poor for full time employees.
Pros
Upward mobility is there for the taking, I feel satisfied that if I continue to push forward I can further my career.
Cons
Dealing with people who are not at their best (sick, surgery) and having to say no I am sorry that is not covered and you are unable to have this procedure, is the pits.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work!
Pros
Efficient, geographic flexibility, good pay, less political than similar companies in the same industry. Nice people to work with, recommend
Cons
Hubs in mn, ct, or ca, either too cold, too remote, or too expensive. Other locations may make people feel not working at a large company.
Advice to Senior Management
Relocate hq to another area, more affordable, less extreme weather, and more accessible. Consolidate multiple offices into one for each metro area.
Pros
The pay seems to be commensurate with the industry.
In the hay day, bonues, profit sharing, and stock options were exceptional.
Being a part of a fortune 50 corporation provides a lot of economies of scale that allow the corporation to give its employees discounts through other retailers (like auto companies and apple)
The name looks good on resume
Cons
There are 75000 employees spread across 50 states.
The coporation is based in MN, so it is MN centric. If you are working outside of MN you are out of the loop. If you were an acquisition and not part of the original UHC proper, you are looked down upon and treated like a red-headed step child.
There is NO advancement. You either have to apply for a higher grade job in another department or leave the company entirely (lose seniority and time off) and return for any advancement.
The company does not value loyal, knowledgable and experienced employees. Employees are not a part of any solutions. It is a top down, dictatorship management style. Changes are made on the fly. The changes are poorly delivered if even properly communicated. Usually, via email. No one is brought in at the beginning of the talks, so the decisions are not well thought out or vetted which results in terrible execution, duplication of work and great inefficiencies.
The economy has required the company to "downsize" employees and make the rest do more with less. Even though Health care reform has increased the workload by leaps and bounds. There have been little or no raises, and none in the forseeable future as payroll comes out of the 20% of the medical loss ratio calculation that the feds have place on health insurance companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Take input from the front lines. Include them upfront. Make all employees part of the solution. Get rid of the managers that are not pulling their weight, even at executive management level. Don't just pay lipservice to the annual surveys of employee satisfaction.
Pros
1. Good pay
2. Work from Home ( You can do almost everything from your laptop)
3. Job security
Cons
1. Most of the projects are maintenance projects.
2. You will work in Hyderabad and your manager in Gurgaon. There is a lot of gap.
3. No onsite oppurtuinities
4. No parking space at all. Very bad planning from Facilities. some times you might have to fight for seat as well.
5. IJP is a very big mess.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to concentrate on the employee satisfaction and employee retention. Try to move the resources between projects with IJP to retain employees.
Pros
The building is really nice
Regular, dependable paycheck
Poor healthcare benefits are better than no benefits
Cons
Company always talks about transformation but never tells the employees what is really going on until the moment the changes go into effect. They never discuss the goals or the "big picture" with us and instead engage in a lot of corporate double-talk when discussing "transformation". Mgmt is very critical over workers loads even though team members have not been replaced for some time.
Advice to Senior Management
You spend so much time and resources training us on your many computer systems, why don't you treat us better, better benefits, reward our strong work (while understaffed) and talk to us straight up about the "transformation" without all that corporate double-talk ... Tell us what's really going on.
Pros
Very good and strong group
Cons
Growth is limited in India due to some external factors
Pros
money, location, looks good on your resume
Cons
many, such as no flexibility, they do not pay for lunch like other companies do, so need to work 8-5 if you are taking an hour lunch-rediculous, allowed only 3 call-ins in a whole year-impossible!!!
Advice to Senior Management
be flexible
