    Business Analyst (Former Employee)
    Eden Prairie, MN

    ProsGood environment, culture
    Talented employees
Pay rate tends to be above market

Work and projects are interesting and there is opportunity to take on new challenges
Health benefits are not great considering the company is primarily a health insurer
Seems to be considerable redundancy for project work across the company

Advice to Senior ManagementExplore methods for tracking initiatives across the enterprise to reduce duplication of project effort.

Best hiring interview turns out becoming WORST JOB EVER

    RN CM (Former Employee)
    Bloomington, MN

ProsI have no PROS to list

    ConsChaotic haphazard management
Knee jerk reactionary team: receive 10 "oops" emails after every new policy initiation
ROI/Metrics/Productivity--even if you are on vacation--even if members do not return calls BOTTOM LINE YOU are responsible
    Middle Management: Bully employees
    Senior Management: Turn blind eye
Did not receive unused PTO time despite giving proper notice

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't just hire PR writers to dream up fancy core value statements
    Laser focus on employee concerns
    Implement exit interviews
If you can't treat your employees with respect that is probably why you can't serve your members. ETHICS and INTEGRITY SHOULD start at the TOP! Remember star ratings start with YOU
Remember when your bottom line (greed) becomes your top line everyone suffers

Very difficult company to work for

    Planner Buyer (Former Employee)
    Golden Valley, MN

ProsDecent healthcare but not great, you would think it was better of a health care company.

ConsIll conceived projects with no clear goals defined and constant scope creep.
Very few opportunities for growth, you pretty much go in and stay at the level you entered the company.
Salaries are lower than national average.
    Blame culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop rewarding senior executives for a poor job.

Very frustrating culture . . . no room for men

    QUIT (Current Employee)
    Minnetonka, MN

    ProsHas good internal jobs and

ConsDoes not provide top jobs to qualified men ... . just women - even if they have no experience or a degree. Many Women in leadership positions have no idea what it means to be a servant leader - they just care about themselves. Company does no live by their values!

Advice to Senior ManagementStart hiring talent not just women who cost less!

Work/Life balance is hit or miss

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Eden Prairie, MN

    ProsUHG has a great reputation

ConsIt's burn and churn in many areas

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest more in the long term rather than exploiting a momentarily weak job market

    Fast paced yet process heavy

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Minneapolis, MN

Pros- Good place to work if you thrive on change
    - Decent benefits package
    - Depending on which group/vertical you work in, you will find very engaged leadership or completely insulated leadership

Cons-Depending on which group/vertical you work in, you will find very engaged leadership or completely insulated leadership
    - Something change driven across organization is not communicated outside of Leadership conference calls. This creates a sense of vagueness around purpose at the execution level.
    - Different set of amenities for business and IT buildings. Some IT buildings have little or no cafeteria service which can be a BIG turn off during winter months.
    - Harder to move up after a certain grade.
