I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

great opportunities to improve and develop one's career
Awesome supervisor and manager always willing to help you on the job
    excellent training, very thorough.

    Cons

I had a very understanding supervisor, however the "occurrences" before warnings are not a effective way to assess the performance of employees. I had none, but a lot of my co-workers stressed and struggled to meet the requirements and they were very good workers.

    Pros

Benefits, paid time off. 3 weeks vacation starting off; never have I been employed at an establishment that offers such great vacation time.

    Cons

Upward mobility; there doesn't seem to be any positions i can advance to within my department. If I want a higher salary I will have to move to another area of the company

Former Employee - Customer Service Advisor in Hooksett, NH

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Both first and second shifts available. Nice, professional staff and great location for work. Encouraged self-development , good benefits, family supportive.

    Cons

Phone jobs have strict metrics for handle time and quality and claims jobs have rate based metrics. Can be a grind.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set up specialty teams to handle more complex or longer issues for members, groups and brokers calling. Management should also give phone staff more training time off the phone for self-development. As business increases with the Affordable Care Act, the health plans offered should have low or no deductibles and any HSA plans offered should have an increasingly generous company contribution.
