    Pros

UHG is a great place for learning and maintaining work-life balance. It has a very flexible environment and one can work virtually whenever needed.

    Cons

Not too sure of the healthcare benefits provided as I never used the services.

    Advice to Management

    Transparency

    Pros

In my division, telecommuting is encouraged. As long as my team members are meeting their goals, we encourage it. Also, very flexible work schedules with flex start times and 4 day work weeks. It really depends on the department you are in and how much that leadership supports home-work balance. Work is challenging, and leadership is supportive.

    Cons

Internal promotions are capped at 10%, so they don't do much to retain their long time staff. We can hire somebody off the street at significantly more pay than we can offer current employees at annual review time. I have good people making $5 less an hour than new hires, because they have stuck with the company for so long.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the promotion cap, and at least bring current long term employees up to a comparable pay rate.

    Pros

Lots of nice people who are good at what they do. Depending on your department, there is scheduling flexibility. Teammates never throw each other under the bus.

    Cons

It seems like there is a new reorg every year. As such, there is always the feeling that your entire department could be laid off at a moment's notice.

    Pros

Per FMLA, you can take 12 weeks for maternity leave. For natural child birth, you can receive a certain percentage of your salary at United (under STD) for five weeks after you take one week of PTO. I had to go back to work after that six week period to keep my benefits and to keep receiving a paycheck. So yes, you can take up to 12 weeks off, but you will only receive benefits and partial pay for six of those (eight weeks for a c-section).

    Cons

There is not much work/life balance. People are disposible. Their ongoing layoffs show short-sightedness and lack of an overall, comprehensive strategy.

    Pros

No weekends, no nights, volunteer opportunities, fairly good training

    Cons

Extremely stringent schedule adherence; personal and sick days are considered occurrences unless they are scheduled within your pto which has to be scheduled two weeks In advance. Advancement---even after 2 yrs, is not always a guarantee.

    Advice to Management

Improve the benefits package. Delineate time off into categories----vacation days, personal days, and sick time

    Pros

I am able to enjoy my work and what I do on a daily basis. Being able to pretty much work as I own my own business and dictate what I can make in Salary means a lot to me. United has a ton of opportunities across the Untited States which is great for me and my family.

    Cons

I would like to see them become more effective with there aarp side and offer a richer plan for clients

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do. Excited for what's to come
