    Career Development Coordinator

    Career Development Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Fremont, CA

ProsIts a small company but has a lot of potential for growth. probably one of the best nursing schools in California.

ConsManagers are somewhat inexperienced and people often get promoted based on their complaints about other manger instead of getting promoted on merit and hard work.
High turn over due to managers not being able to retain good employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease consider a fair performance review systema. Reward your career services department, they work tirelessly and are rarely appreciated nor promoted.

    The great divide.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsParts of the company are doing well and carrying this part on their backs.

ConsThe way they treat their employees is not conducive to open and honest communication. There is a big divide between management and front line employees. Management does not know how to show appreciation or respect. This is evidenced by the revolving door; even management keeps turning over. There is no sense of security and now they are changing everything we once knew. And, they are doing it without talking to the rank and file to get their input.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange is good. But, change for change's sake is destructive. You need to find out what your employees need from you to be successful, what ideas they have for improvements and let them know your vision and what to expect next. Or...the door will keep revolving.

Very entreprenurial environment-Make sure to watch yourself first

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsVery supportive work environment for those who bring new ideas to the table. Management is willing to listen, and the school will invest properly in resources if idea takes off.

ConsInvestment in employees is minimal. Make sure to invest enough time in yourself to get the most out of working there, and be aware that this is a profit oriented business.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest more in employees and training. Will help with long term retention

Fun place to work, great career opportunities

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Fremont, CA

ProsUnitek generally hires fun, friendly people. This makes the day to day a very enjoyable experience. They also are very good about advancement from within. If a position is created or if one opens up, they will always look to fill that position from within. In my time there I saw an impressive number of employees advance their careers.

ConsUnitek tries to get the most amount of performance from the least amount of people. This means an employee is very busy and has many simultaneous tasks. Maybe because of the opportunity they are giving you, they have an expectation of very hard work on your part.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy only advice is to hire more people and reduce some of the pressure on current staff. Although it's tough to argue with success. Unitek kept virtually all of its employees thru the last few years of economic downturn. Job security is not something you can really fault them for!

    ProsThe team is very friendly

Conssystems are archaic, for an established company still in the dark ages in regards to the applications/systems used by internal employees. Who knows where the marketing dollars are going.

Advice to Senior Managementupgrade systems so your people can be more efficient, the money will follow
