I have been working at Unitek Information Systems full-time

    Pros

Upper management is responsive to most employee on-the-job needs. There is a good culture in place, and friendly coworkers.

    Cons

The benefits are scanty, and the pay is worse. That really sums it up completely. I'm only typing more in order to meet the 20 word minimum.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix salaries to match regional norms and get some decent healthcare (dental and visin) options.

I have been working at Unitek Information Systems full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Amazing co-workers
    - Great work-life balance

    Cons

    - Expensive benefits
    - Change is constant, but never in the right direction
    - Favoritism and bully's are everywhere on sales teams
    - Operations team exhibits no sense of urgency to fix what needs to be fixed
    - Those that know how to resolve issues are criticized and do not stick around resulting in a team of individuals resistant to the positive change that is required
    - Promote that we offer top technology solutions, but buy hardware from Craigslist and eBay
    - Fix solutions based on cheapest methods vs. investing in the business for growth
    - Character, integrity and business practices are questionable, but rather than fixing they promote these individuals

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Address the company culture, values, favoritism and bullying that is going on. Fix the bad business practices and stop covering up corrupt actions. We talk as employees and know these issues exist and have for a long time. Promoting friends and those that do not have the character or integrity for our future is a recipe for trouble and risks each of your employees livelihoods.

I have been working at Unitek Information Systems full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Some great people to work with, and made some great business contacts.

    Cons

The company entrusts it's business to a management team that is unethical, and small minded, and the favoritism is incredible. Friendships, and family relationships have no place in the business world, and letting relationship of this nature govern your actions prohibits true talent from growing with the organization. The management team consists of bullies, more worried about protecting their own interests, and those of their friends than the overall health, and growth of the company. Employees cannot openly share ideas or ask questions without those ideas being immediately dismissed. Management is allowed to put people down in public form without consequence....It's just horrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat everyone equally, stop playing favorites, stop promoting people simply because your buddies. Trust but VALIDATE, and when someone is in the wrong, hold them responsible...Just admit you made bad choices, and deal with it instead of covering it up.

I have been working at Unitek Information Systems

    Pros

Small set up so can explore and implement new platforms

    Cons

Useless management. Too much politics. Full of favoritism. The management has their spy who keeps feeding them all screwed up information. Very bad paymaster. The COO- Nav Bawa is painful to deal with. Has his whole family employed in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to give better services to your student and stop just cooking your books.

    - Supportive Peers since almost all are in the same boat.

    Cons

    - Lowest Pay in region - not even touching the lowest ranges, quite embarrassing

    - Low-end benefits
    - Cheap craigslist/ebay equipment and resources
    - Promotions by friends not merits
    - One Exec has all the decisive power, rarely the right choice
    - Critical depts are severely under-staffed with underpaid good people
    - Over-charged & Under-Supported Students
    - Bootcamp to a real career, most can't stay very long due to bad pay.
    - 90% of people in upper management levels are from a specific country that is a continent between china and the middle-east. Also has its name as an Ocean...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cressey & Company, please replace the toxic policies and personnel that have chosen to take advantage of their subordinates and embarrass the company by refusing quality over quantity(turn-over.)

I have been working at Unitek Information Systems

    Pros

They do a great job hiring good people. The new hires are bright eyed and hopeful that success is coming. Many sales reps are team players.

    Cons

The management and executive team do not treat their employees well. The work environment at Unitek Education is not a positive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Congratulations Cressey, for bringing in a new CEO.

Fun people, but management will take advantage if you let them.

I have been working at Unitek Information Systems full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people they hire are typically energetic and fun, which goes a long way towards making the day go by quickly. It does seem like they care about the product the put out (nursing and IT students), which is not normal, for a "for profit" college. Most for profits don't care about things like job placement and graduation rates. The fact that Unitek does allows you to be proud of what you do.

    Cons

The pay is so far below the area norm, many people don't even make the bell curve, much less the bottom of it. This leads to a high turnover rate and loss of skilled employees. Unitek's belief that they can replace people at will and pay them whatever they want may soon be their downfall. If things continue this way, they will either turn into one of the typical and hated for-profit schools, or go out of business entirely.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your people what they're worth. It's a shame that you have built up such a great institution that gives back to the community in so many ways, only to now let it become something shameful or to lose it entirely. Invest in people and it will return to you ten-fold.

    Pros

This is a very friendly environment to work in.
Everyone is receptive and accepting of each others' cultures.
    Management is understanding and flexible.
Management takes care of you and trains you; expect to push and challenge yourself.
Unitek is in it's growth phase and is expanding.

    Cons

Noticeable turnover rate. People are always looking for the next company to move to.
People are generally stuck at their position except for one or two exceptions.
    Somewhat low salary and compensation.
    Sometimes a little disorganized.
Currently there is construction going on near the building which might be distracting.
Depending on your position, be prepared to work longer than usual.

I have been working at Unitek Information Systems full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Parts of the company are doing well and carrying this part on their backs.

    Cons

The way they treat their employees is not conducive to open and honest communication. There is a big divide between management and front line employees. Management does not know how to show appreciation or respect. This is evidenced by the revolving door; even management keeps turning over. There is no sense of security and now they are changing everything we once knew. And, they are doing it without talking to the rank and file to get their input.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change is good. But, change for change's sake is destructive. You need to find out what your employees need from you to be successful, what ideas they have for improvements and let them know your vision and what to expect next. Or...the door will keep revolving.

    Pros

Its a small company but has a lot of potential for growth. probably one of the best nursing schools in California.

    Cons

Managers are somewhat inexperienced and people often get promoted based on their complaints about other manger instead of getting promoted on merit and hard work.
High turn over due to managers not being able to retain good employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider a fair performance review systema. Reward your career services department, they work tirelessly and are rarely appreciated nor promoted.
