I have been working at UnitingCare NSW.ACT (More than a year)

    Pros

Some kind and caring staff. There is considerable online training that helps with the job and other training available (if your manager likes you). Good equipment provided to provide service to clients.

    Cons

Unitingcare is a mess. Bad leadership from top down, cliques and the apostles of bad practice (local management) actively work to destroy staff moral and discourage any staff initiative. Chronically understaffed in positions that actually do the heavy lifting, but top management heavy indicates a organisation that is struggling to define its purpose other than try become a corporation that is fixated on profit margins. While this isn't in itself a bad thing for expansion, there is minimal direction and unity of purpose. Other than making more money. While staff labour under oppressive workloads and onerous administrative tasks over providing services to clients, it has a real effect on moral, which is generally low. But management focus only on profit margins and create a horrid environment in which to work by actively being ignorant of the concetns of coal face staff.

    Advice to Management

Senior management need to begin to actually care about staff more than profits. Take care of staff and the profit will come from a healthy and happy workforce. As it stands, one disastrous project after another is draining the company of its focus and care.

  5. Typical Non Profit Experience

    Pros

Generally we'll paid, and can hide if you are incompetent or just generally lazy. Most people say they are BUSY and it's a joke.

    Cons

Appalling management styles, trying to replicate a corporate environment and failing miserably.

    Advice to Management

Stop employing mates from another government organisation, and be more transparent in employment. Creates a very underlying mysogonistic environment and culture in a specific department. Constantly going around in circles and very prone to harassment claims as this organisation does not allow individual thinking. Very toxic and unprofessional and immature company to work for. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

    Advice to Management

take a step back and see what is really happening. say thankyou to those who have worked so hard because eventually they will resign if you don't.
