Former Transit Driver for 3+ Years

    Anonymous (Former Employee)

ProsGreat pay. Hours are flexible. Coworkers are amazing! There are opportunities to move within the company. Many different routes to drive so it never gets boring.

ConsYou have to find someone to cover your shift of you do not want a penalty. However, if you notify the supervisor early, they can help you get your shift covered.

Best job for a student on campus!!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsOne hour shifts that allow flexibility with classes. Opportunity to advance to supervisory positions. Require independence while driving, which is nice if you like being on your own, but it is incredibly easy to make friends with other drivers. In fact it is encouraged!

ConsThe temptation to keep working at Unitrans for a long time may hinder students from applying for internships, but if you want to take a break to study abroad or do an internship it is completely possible.

    Awesome UC Davis Student Job!

Transit Driver (Former Employee) Davis, CA

Pros1. Flexible schedule - you choose your own hours to accommodate your classes and other commitments. Are you going to have a extra difficult quarter? Take it off or reduce your hours with no issues!!
    2. Good pay for a student job (depending on the position, start at $9.75 and get annual raises)
    3. Excellent coworkers and management! Make lifelong friends working here!
    4. Easy to move around/up in the company...If you want more responsibility and are motivated, apply for a supervisory or management position!

ConsYou'll be required to work a couple of early mornings or late nights each week. Of course you still get to choose which mornings/nights.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

It was a really good college job, as it was a very social company and paid well.

Transit Driver (Current Employee) Davis, CA

ProsIt is the highest paying job on campus and the shifts are usually an hour long, which means you can work in between classes so you don't have long gaps. It is also a very social company and I made lots of good friends there.

ConsSometimes shifts are hard to get covered during midterms and finals. The minimum hour requirements per quarter can also be quite high, ranging from 15-20 hours a week (which is sometimes too much for specific students). Also, you can only work for Unitrans if you are an undergraduate at UCDavis

assisted in daily administrative tasks, and executed accounts payable preparatory functions.

Administrative Office Clerk (Former Employee) Davis, CA

ProsFlexible hours, close knit work environment

ConsUnpredictable, and this job is a bit of a catch all. There are some basic duties that are done regularly and then there are other tasks that require you to have an open mind unbothered by interruptions that seem unrelated to the duties described in the job description
