    Pros

UnityPoint Health is an innovative and growing company. Senior management is excited to develop talent and puts a lot of time into succession planning.

    Cons

Occasionally that which is in the best interest of the employee may be overlooked.

    Advice to Management

Monetary compensation fails to be aggressive enough concerning employee retention. The employees love their patients but at times feel exploited.

    Pros

Better than other local hospitals. Feel the level of patient care is better there too. Management is better too, clear guidance and structure.

    Cons

Can't advance until you have been there for at least six months. Very hectic paced job. Hard to deal with doctors attitudes as well.

    Pros

Everything is a team effort, you will get plenty of help when needed. Benefits are very good there, work flow is fast paced on some floors.

    Cons

Pays raises suck you only get maybe up to .25¢ yearly based on your job performance throughout the year. You get timed closely on breaks and lunchs. And a lot of other employees will tell on you if they see you doing something wrong, feels like your in kindergarten.

    Advice to Management

Some management will help when needed, some management will spy on you to see what your doing.

    Pros

Coworkers are great, very dedicated to their professions.

    Cons

So-so pay, expensive health insurance with high deductibles and numerous exclusions (work in health care but exclude health care services from benefits!).

    Advice to Management

Mission and Values should be lived, not just platitudes used for rah-rah cheer-leading.

    Pros

Great frontline/bedside staff and excellent patient care.

    Cons

Corporate Mentality - focused more on profits than caring for staff and patients. Pigeon-holes staff.

    Advice to Management

Do not lose sight of the patient and the staff who is closest to treating the patients.

    Pros

Pay is good. People really care. Room for advancement. You're positively affecting individuals lives and the nation's health and health systems simultaneously.

    Cons

24-hour schedule with weekends and holidays makes for an unhealthy bouncy schedule. Working conditions are awful. Big issues in a big world makes the individual feel small. Tendency towards callousness within the office.

    Advice to Management

Schedule innovation needed. Give workers the equipment needed, space to breathe without breathing on another, and the ability for each person to align some personal environment to boost their indivuality and soothe their hard-worn nerves.
