I worked at Universal Health Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

IT is given the latest and greatest tools. Training and knowledge transfer within the team is paramount. The management staff is always available for questions, concerns or suggestions. Job security. Benefits are ok. They embrace the latest technologies. Travel to remote locations within the US. Large IT staff if you include all of the facility staff.

    Cons

Heavy workload and somewhat understaffed at corp.
    Room for advancement.
Salary level below baseline for position, but I knew this going in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's ok to promote from within.

    - value family and home life
    - Fair pay & benefits
    - Honest and has integrity

    Cons

    - Big company
    - Sometimes promote from outside vs. inside
    - Better communication during layoffs
    - Respect hospital staff more by senior management
-Hospital management should be more involved with daily issues that staff face

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Hire people who really know the industry
    - More newsletters - don't publish enough
    - Recruit more doctors - never seem to do a good job getting doctors - always excuses

I have been working at Universal Health Services

    Pros

This is a well-run company that is conservative in its management style. The company does not adopt the fad-of-the-week, like many businesses do, but has maintained its focus during up and down business cycles. There are plenty of opportunities for growth within the company for people who seek out opportunities.

    Cons

Not as flexible with work schedules as other companies, does not allow working from home, dress code is not casual.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication from senior management to employees has improved in recent months but could still use improvement. More casual dress code would be appreciated.

I worked at Universal Health Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The benefits are great (PTO, ELB, health, dental, etc). In class training was good. Position was particularly an everyday challenge which I liked, not the same old routine over and over. I generally got along with everyone there. Service Excellence training was wired into everyone that worked there.

    Cons

Pay does not match your workload. Managers like to pass along tasks rather than learn and show us on the floor. PTO was a battle to take even though it was your personal time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time-off needs to be less strict and management needs to realize that us floor people are not robots.
