I worked at Universal Protection Service part-time

    Pros

I got a lot of hours in, which was good $$$ wise. You also get to meet a lot of amazing individuals and get to guard places like Blizzard Entertainment, Volcom, etc.

    Cons

Some of the places can be a little dull but it's all part of the job.

    Pros

Down to earth branch manager. Open communication, easy to talk to. Nice uniforms. Full-time hours.

    Cons

Uniform deposits deducted from pay checks. Hourly pay could be better.

    Advice to Management

    Don't require uniform deposits.

    Pros

Easy work with steady pay. The interview was easy and the management was very nice to work for.

    Cons

Schedule shifts around a lot. Some of the things that you do are very redundant and don't make sense.

    Advice to Management

Work on establishing a more structured scheduling system and reduce some of the unnecessary job duties.

I worked at Universal Protection Service full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You will get paid on their payroll instead of a third party Plenty of Sites available Company Site has Materials to cover all the basics

    Cons

Very long hours No support personnel Training is non-existent You are paid depending on how much the client chooses to pay you Communication Barriers involving time-frames and personnel

    Advice to Management

Hire more supporting personnel, extend a relief program to rotate and cover shifts. Let your clients know or pay out of your own pocket to put at least people to cover when shifts become interrupted. Pay your supervisors and site managers a Supervisory/Management hourly rate or salary. Giving the same rate you give to regular guards is irresponsible and you will lose people.

I have been working at Universal Protection Service (More than a year)

    Pros

Great duty assignment, a lot of customer service, assisting residents 40 hour work week 2 days off

    Cons

The pay is below standards, handling mail (packages, not certified mail handlers far to many duties for the amount of pay, other sites with lesser duties are being paid more money ! Officers that have been here for sometime are not pulling their weight

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate this site,in ease the pay, are you will continue to experience a high volume of turn over here

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They do a great job on getting officers set schedules and of paying on time.

    Cons

Poor management, low pay, poor ethics. I.e. Current property damaged by another officer months ago still has not been fixed. Also have security equipment broken or malfunctioning, such as Deggy points and our cell phone, that the office has failed to repair/replace after being notified. (We have been waiting 2-6+ months for some of our things to be fixed or replaced)

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better...having a site at minimum wage for years means you have done a poor job in negotiating the contract and/or in providing quality service Replace/fix client property damaged by officers asap so you don't lose your contract. Maintain your security equipment so officers can do their jobs. I have seen cameras, golf carts, Deggy points, and phones all stop working and not be fixed or replaced until months after being notified of issues. Needless to say, you sound repair, replace, and/or purchase security equipment needed for your sites in a timely manner. Do not procrastinate on things that can make a difference in the safety of your officers or others at the location they are working.

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Quality training, available overtime, Union (non-management). Management did negotiate with the union to get supervisors and managers union health care benefits.

    Cons

Continually iunderstaffed, management takes on contracts knowing that they don't have personnel to cover it then strong arms other accounts into sending people to help leaving the other accounts short people or unable to schedule any time off for vacation.

    Advice to Management

Don't blame middle management for the inability to staff shifts. Hiring new people takes forever and we have a hard time finding quality candidates. Its only gonna get worse now that the union is involved.

undependable pertaining to employment being consistant, floating ytou are filling in where officers are sick or out for any reason, or officers needed till placement is made .

    Advice to Management

the floating position when filling a vacant position should be offered for acceptance, to my knowledge it is not, but should be
