    Pros

    They love military vets
Pay is $9.00 per hour which isn't the lowest
Uniforms are provided including cold weather and rain gear
Benefits include holiday pay and insurance
    Overtime available
    Good people
    Relatively comfortable post
    Management provides what you need

    Cons

Pay is fair for what is required, but it's barely a livable wage
Company only has one post in Arkansas so no room for advancement.
Insurance isn't affordable at $9.00 per hour
Post Supervisors only make a dollar more per hour
Job security is limited due to contract with post company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Network, market and expand into neighboring states. Offer advancement opportunities and training.

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    * Easy job
    * Little to no supervision
    * Leadership is pro-veteran, pro-law enforcement
    * Flexible schedules (depending on site and supervisor)

    Cons

    * Benefits are overpriced; Retirement matching wasn't offered until almost a year of service with company
    * Company is slow to process paperwork; Often new-hires go without DMV clearances for months at a time.
    * Getting overtime is like pulling teeth, even when contract hours are not being met.
    * Lack of corporate culture leads to a disconnect with officers.
    * Pay ranges from "barely above minimum wage" to "comfortable salary for underachievers" ($19,000 - $35,000) for Security Officers, depending on experience, certifications, and site.

Easy interview , very flexible. hired on the spot. Very nice people to work with.

    Cons

I have been working at Universal Protection Service

    Pros

good working conditions overall but client either doesn't know or care about security issues. Universal will not intercede for us to upgrade their security measures.

    Cons

not enough money for what we do. we should be paid at least $10.00/hr for what we do. No pay increases for anyone here, even officers who have been here for years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You continue to ask us to do more, why will you not get us more money?

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Depending on your post it can completely change your perspective on security.
Tons to learn about dealing with people, equipment, skills and training unique to the job.
Lots of opportunities to pick up hours if you're part time.
Very accommodating as a second job and part-time employees pretty much get to make their own schedule.
frequent opportunities for personal growth with the correct mindset.
    Paid breaks.
    Often unsupervised.
    Rarely have to rush.
    Paid weekly in the Northeast.
Anniversary bonus of one week's pay in place of vacations every year.
Pay is often a few dollars above minimum wage while having to do almost nothing.
High turnover frequently frees up full-time positions.

    Cons

Full-time employees have almost no control over their schedule and get erratic hours.
FIrst shift, supervisor, director and assistant director positions are often locked down.
Retail locations will have you working every weekend.
    Stagnant pay rate.
Frequent micromanagement from the client's corporate security to justify their positions which just ends up taking away from the actual patrol functions regardless of a particular site's crime statistics.
    No sick days.
Pricey benefits that don't cover dental or vision.
Corporate's sketchy and slow with raises and back pay.
Found my site understaffed since one employee getting sick or going on vacation would give everyone a loopy schedule that week.
Have to wait for relief before leaving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unrealistic but, if you're going to offer such expensive insurance, at least give us back our sick days.
Better paid, trained and rested employees are happy employees that paint a better image of your company for the public.
Again unrealistic but enforced steady schedules would also be pretty great for keeping all of the employees rested and better able to maintain an adequate work/life balance.

    Cons

    Pros

Very stress free work environment depending on your post. Relatively no prior experience required and a decent pay. Their biggest problem is that they cannot hire enough people.

    Cons

If someone calls in sick or doesnt show up you must continue work until relieved. The uniforms are cheap and uncomfortable.
