  1. Fantastic staff through the department. If you left the Spectrum Department, the company was not great.

I worked at Universal Protection Service

    Pros

The people in my department were knowledgeable and proficient in their job.

    Cons

The contract between the Irvine Company and Universal was never signed so I did not have any paid time off for over a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to cultivate the Security Officers. Better benefits night have also allowed me to stay

I have been working at Universal Protection Service

    Pros

It's really site specific - depending on your director, you have the flexibility for school or another job.

There are also a lot of openings for supervisors and directors of you are willing to relocate to other sites.

    Cons

Again, site specific - a lot of gossip, ongoing issues are not addressed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supply updated policies and procedures manual; get rid of covering tattoos policy

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

there is bountiful opportunities for overtime and there is no shortage for full time work even in a recession. advancement to supervisor positions is rapid if one is motivated and aggressive.

    Cons

there is very little that can be said about how universal protection services will protect its employees from wrongful termination and is a situational topic. Many sites are unclear as to how to properly meet your new site and training officer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Organization with operations and the client site is something that is lacking. more structure and more communication is needed to properly abide by company policies.

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Your always gonna have hours.

    Cons

Due to the four hour hold over if someone calls off you can almost guaranteed your gonna have to stay and cover the shift with no regard for your family or situation if you tell them you can't. So make sure your babysitter or grandmother can watch your kids longer or your husband can carpool with someone else if you only have one car! Universal only cares about covering there own butts not yours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think upper management should back their employees up better and maybe they could keep officers longer.
