    Pros

Good pay compared to other places. Opportunities for growth if lead in the right direction and company books are readvto the t.

    Cons

Limited benefits. Not too many great properties. Not everything is what it seems. Too many complacent workers.

    Advice to Management

Open a forum for employees to start climbing the ladder in the company and find an insurer that's affordable for all employees across the board.

    Pros

Some of the best coworkers I have ever had
Good stepping stone into law enforcement
    Uniform is provided
    equipment is provided

Honestly, working at a retail location under this company (formerly Valor Security before UPS bought it out) has been the best job I've ever had. I always had good hours, good coworkers, good supervision, a good director, and all the equipment I needed to get the job done. I cannot speak for all locations, obviously.

I didn't quite make it a year due to military service, but am on my way back in right now.

    Cons

The pay is kind of low and never goes up. $9.75 per hour is enough to get by on, but barely. Definitely not a career.

Some of the camera equipment is old and outdated. We were constantly suffering breakdowns on the recording equipment during critical times.

Instead of paid vacation, you get a lump sum worth X amount of vacation days at the end of each year that you accrue.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to spend a little bit of money to provide better equipment to the sites you acquired this year. Some of them could really use upgrades to perform their jobs effectively.

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, possibilities for promotions, plenty of hours available.

    Cons

lowest pay in the industry in the state.
If you want a promotion, you have to move to another location.
No vacations, only unpaid time off.

    Pros

    consistent pay
    large company
    decent benefits for security
    many positions available
    easy to advance
    national reach

    Cons

It is such a giant company that it is hard to be seen as other than a minor cog.
Supervision can be bullies, with little reason for their actions and little experience or capability of their own

    Advice to Management

Treat security guards as individuals. Valuable and capable people who you are interested in retaining. Don't work your managers so hard that it causes them to quit.

    Pros

Steady hours. Dependable paycheck. Great job for students and retirees.

    Cons

Clients can be overly-demanding. Tenants can be dismissive of your position and have no respect for authority even though you have been hired for the task you try to do. I worked for them for 2 years, finished my degree and got out.

Didn't get any raises during that time. Contract work means you get paid what Universal sells you for. You get vacation time if you are working for a client that is willing to pay for your vacation. Eligibility after one year. If you transfer work locations, you lose your vacation. Benefits suck. Health insurance is a joke. You pay top dollar for insurance that covers very little.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking out for yourself, and start looking out for your team.
