I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Best part about working with the company would be stable hours and overtime where applicable. Also once your a full time employee, you get to be in the union. Good health, vision and dental package as well.

    Cons

Management is nice and helpful but actual clients who you may work for aren't as pleasant. As a reviewer posted already, we are contractors and if the client wants to remove you , they can, for any reason or NO reason unfortunately.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on getting more sites and then put those who have been with the company priority.

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There is always room for personal growth. It is up to the officer on how they intend to pursue their work ethics, leadership, and abilities. Dedication, hard work, teamwork, and leadership are essential not only for a security officer, but for any employee no matter the profession. Yes, compensation depends on the type of site an officer is assigned to. Every site is not a $10.00 an hour site. Duties vary per site, per client needs. Officer should never solely focus on compensation of a site. This could influence their performance of their duties for their site. They fall prey to complaining and judgments. Security is not a one person island. It takes every officer and personnel in management to provide a competitive and valued service to each and every client.

    Cons

Work-life balance differs for every officer. Officers have children, are caregivers, students, work other part-time jobs; whatever their life entangles, there is a site to fit the needs an officer. The on-site supervisor will work with the officer, but the officer must in-turn work with the supervisor (arriving to work on time, coming to work on scheduled days, and performing duties to the best of officer's abilities). Training is available for all new officers and existing officers. Each site entails proper training through personnel and existing officers. Safety training is provided to ensure every officer is properly and adequately enhanced and armed with the tools necessary to perform their duties. At UPS, every officers is given the opportunity to obtain a 401k plan, life insurance, paid vacations, and a bonus at the end of their year date the officer began just to name some of the perks as well as manager and supervisor positions.

Having to stand for 8 hours a day was very hard.

    Cons

Main downsides - No Promotions, No Advancements, No Paid Time Off

    Pros

Will work with you on hours and location. As long as you show up for your shift and on time. There will not be any issues. They work with you if you make the effort.

    Cons

The down side is that it is under contract. You can be there one day and gone the next if the customer has a problem over something you did or did not do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay on top of what the customer wants and just keep the people that are assigned there informed.

I have been working at Universal Protection Service full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay depending on where you work. Room for advancement based on availability. Better company then any other I have worked for in security.

    Cons

Unless you are a union employee you pretty much have no benefits. Yearly cost of living raises and paid vacation would go a long way to satisfy employees who wish to stay longterm, but lack of these things make long term employment hard to stick with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Paid vacation should be given to all employees not just union. Cost of living raises are a must for employees. Even 50 cents a year makes a huge difference in morale and work productivity.
