I worked at Universal Studios Hollywood full-time

    Pros

Great work-life balance. Great benefits. Fun people to work with

    Cons

Sometimes too many chiefs not enough indians to make workflow smoothly. Some managers like to sleep to the top. Managers and supervisors very much lacking 'management skills'. Practices learned in leadership workshops should be demonstrated at all times.

I worked at Universal Studios Hollywood part-time for less than a year

    Pros

As a college student, this was the perfect job. Unlimited access to the parks, union protection (small but really impactful perks), and amazing atmosphere. I enjoyed every day that I worked there. I met some really interesting people (Serbian kids who were given jobs there through an agency, other LA kids I never would have met) and just had a blast.

    Cons

They're a little transparent on hours. When you start in the summer, if you're new, you have to call-in for open shifts. I actually rarely worked the job I was hired for (Jurassic Park) b/c they already had established employees w/ set hours. I took shifts on other rides when they needed someone else.

Also, if you're looking at this as a long-term move, don't. Even the supervisors barely make above minimum wage. Seriously.

I worked at Universal Studios Hollywood part-time for more than a year

    Pros

*Getting in for free whenever you want, but you will never want to go there once you work there
*Getting 6 anniversary tickets for your 1 year there and then 12 every year after that
    *Employee preview nights
    *Free parking
    *Discounted AMC movie tickets
    *Amazing co-workers

    Cons

*There is no way at all to be able to get into work in the offices unless you have put in years of work there
*You have to pay annoying union dues when they do absolutely nothing for you and you make next to nothing
    *Managers play favorites

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are all the worst in every department. There isn't one manager I liked the year I work there. Stop playing favorites and actually promote people who work hard.

I worked at Universal Studios Hollywood

    Pros

Theme park and you often get free food.

    Cons

This place is crazy town. Back of house is a joke and run like a mom and pop operation. Popularity, reputation and fitting in are highly, highly valued. Results and actual work are not.

Plan for everyone to be atleast 15 minutes late to every meeting - if they show up at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house of all the ghosts of decades past.

I worked at Universal Studios Hollywood part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun, fast paced, meet lots of people

    Cons

Seasonal hiring, rules nearly impossible to follow, management doesn't care about anyone but themselves, as nice as these people are supposed to be to guests; they don't know how to be nice to employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the Union; Don't hire so many people if you don't want to keep them all; show some compassion for your employees
