    Pros

Location location location! Reputation, academic atmosphere, opportunities for collaborations; opportunities for cross-disciplinary research. Good local restaurants, good travel links. Modern campus with traditional feel.

    Cons

London weighting doesn't put you on a par with the rest of the country, so you are worse off overall.

I have been working at University College London part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is quite an international university. Here we can make friends across the world and they are all friendly. The facilities are nice, and the teachers are great. There are also many career-related events for the students to better prepare for their future.

    Cons

At the centre of London, the campus is relatively small. Actually there is no campus at all - buildings span in different areas.

I have been working at University College London full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Autonomy, respect, career progression, amiable expert colleagues, and a culture built on enlightenment, equality, and independence from government and religion.

    Cons

London is an expensive place to live: all these opportunities don't come for free. Space is limited, so quite a few researchers work in densely-packed open-plan rooms.

    Advice to Management

Bring the facilities up to modern standards - invest in the infrastructure of the university

    Pros

Great MEng (Master of Engineering) and MSc programmes in Engineering. Multicultural environment, good ranking position (if still relatively unknown internationally compared to London/UK peers), excellent location, diverse student body (subject type, background)

    Cons

Still finding its feet with regards to its PhD programmes in Engineering. Publishing record in top journals still relatively poor compared to other universities, other pure science depts (biochemistry, chemistry, etc) in the university

    Advice to Management

Gear towards/push publishing earlier on in the PhD process
