I have been working at University of Bologna full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A rich learning experience of all the minor sports. An excellent opportunity to experience the sport in the full sense of the term.

    Cons

The functioning of sport in general in Italy is extremely messy. Practicing sports is left to young and old sports enthusiasts. Lacks managerial spirit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

clear ideas, programming skills and research skills of the human capital suitable to achieve long-term (2-3 years)

I have been working at University of Bologna

    Pros

The level of research is every bit as good as the one carried out by the most prestigious Universities in Europe.

    Cons

The salary is not comparable to the most prestigious universities. Principal Investigators often do not reward your work properly even when it is good or outstanding. No career advance: after you finish your PhD it is almost impossible to become a professor with the consequence that you have to move away (and go abroad) to get what you deserve. Few or none connection between University and local industries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the salary, give career possibilities, create connections with industries or start-up companies.

  10.

Good scientific experience lacking of interesting connections with the industry.

I have been working at University of Bologna

    Pros

Scientific activities are relevant and research groups are competent in many areas. Publications from scientists of this University demonstrates the average high quality of the research.

    Cons

Poor connections with the industry and its needs. Difficulties in promoting innovation and technology transfer which is poor towards industries and almost absent towards startup companies. Poor coordination and communication between colleagues of different departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote new activities for sharing scientific results among different departments. Provide activities and courses to diffuse the entrepreneurial culture among students and motivate researchers to bring their innovation to th emarket.

  11.

Current Employee - Ph D Student in Bologna (Italy)

I have been working at University of Bologna

    Pros

Oldest university in the world, with an intensive research activity in all areas. Working here helps you grow and helps your CV

    Cons

The bad part is that working in an Italian university means that you will be going most likely nowhere inside the university as it's practically impossible to become associate/full professor, which means you'll make very few money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ph.D students need better wages, and it is fundamental to allow hope to proceed with your career, impossible today at all.
