    Pros

Great student job, you get to interact with the football coaches, players, and staff. Field access to home and away games. Routine helps you understand the job more and more.

    Cons

As a student it is hard to put in 40 hours a week during the school year. The "people upstairs" don't allow for much movement upwards after graduation.

    Pros

Berkeley has some of the best resources for doing research and the professors are world renowned. I worked in the Caldwell Lab as an undergrad researcher and am currently working on a stable isotope research project to map out the ecological food webs of octopuses found at Catalina Island. The position definitely gives you experience in dissections, freeze drying, and other various lab tech skills necessary to extract the data from the samples.

    Cons

I've had difficulty getting my own research project in the Caldwell Lab. The professors are so busy and have so many students that they won't always be available.

    Advice to Management

Definitely branch out and ask around for various positions! URAP is a great way to get started with research and it never hurts to shoot a professor an email to ask about their research!

    Pros

The work was relatively easy and gave ample time to do homework.

    Cons

I was at Unit 4 and it was on top of a hill.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes no one really understands how it is structured.

Incredible place to live, and wonderful place to go to school

    Cons

teaching experience depends a lot on the professor you work under.

I worked at University of California Berkeley (More than a year)

    Pros

The people I was working with were really great and we got along really well. The hours were easy and so was the work.

    Cons

Not much to say here, just because everything was so flexible. I guess the one thing I can say is that the work would sometimes get too mundane.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. It's a great campus and great people. One piece of advice though: maybe a little less gossiping in front of the students.

    Pros

Great colleagues -- helpful, hardworking, fun, reliable. I have never worked with a better group of people. And the job itself was fine. The workload was very doable and I really liked my time there. I left to pursue my future career, but frequently wish I was still back there!

    Cons

The only con was that it wasn't my chosen career path. And, of course, I wish that they pay was better. Other than that, though, I genuinely don't have a bad thing to say about it!

    Pros

    Cons

  11. Great pay and flexibility for part-time employees!

I have been working at University of California Berkeley

    Pros

As a part-time employee, I received generous (hourly) pay for the amount and level of difficulty of work I did. Hours were incredibly flexible. I essentially chose my own hours on the fly and could even work remotely from home/anywhere if I wanted to. I got to be part of many research projects during my time here with many friendly and knowledgeable individuals who are patient and willing to teach you. Never stressed out by the work asked of me here.

Your experiences could differ if you are full-time.

    Cons

As a part-time employee of a research center, I was never sure if I would continue to have work after each project concluded. However, this is just a typical concern that comes with this territory of work. It appeared that full-time employees are usually PhD or post-docs heading a research project for future publications, while part-time employees are usually undergraduates assisting them.

The work was typically easy, but sometimes monotonous. The pay is definitely enough to keep me coming back, though!

    Advice to Management

None; I never really had any complaints during my time here. Maybe present more upward mobility opportunities to undergrads?
