    Pros

The atmosphere is great being surrounded by the garden. The workers are friendly and highly enjoy working together at the garden. The events were enjoyable and working usually meant you were allowed to stay for the show until time to clean up.

    Cons

The summers get quite hot so if you are not working in certain areas, you will not be receiving any air conditioning.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend finding ways to increase revenue a bit albeit being non-profit still. The amount of efforts put into asking for donations and the such is admirable, but it still seems that the funds run a little low.

There is a lot of institutional support for the postdocs through the union, career center, and other university resources.

    Cons

What kind of experience you have is dependent on your advisor.

    Pros

    - Working on cutting edge research
    - Working with some of the most brilliant minds in your field
    - Feels extremely rewarding

    Cons

    - Often pressured into working long extra hours
    - Not much of a work/play balance, but that's sort of to be expected

    Advice to Management

I think that the school does as good of a job as it can with its lab assistants. Most of my advice to management goes to practically any academic institution: pay more attention to your researchers and compensate them with a wage that is livable in such an expensive area.

    Pros

Fantastic people as coworkers. Typically very easy to get vacation days off and flexible telecommuting schedule. Great discounts on classes.

    Cons

It is a public university, so there is not a huge pay increase. Tendency towards team that are understaffed and overworked.
