I have been working at University of Central Florida part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I am a teaching assistant in UCF, working 20 hours a week. My job includes taking class I serve, office hour for students and a few hours in department main office. Other than that, everything is good.

    Cons

Since I am a graduate student in UCF, sometimes I feel a little occupied, especially when I have to proctor exams for all the classes. Those times may also be the time I have my own exams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe working hours for graduate students as a teaching assistant can be reduced to 15 hours, just my own opinion.

  3. I was in the CWEP co-op program for master planning in research and development. Leaders would take time to mentor CWEPs

I have been working at University of Central Florida

    Pros

Collaborative, organized. Managers where understanding with students class schedule and the pay was good for a undergraduate students. It ranged from $14.50-$20.00 per hour depending on the major of the students.

    Cons

It was very far from the University (UCF).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I encourage them to continue to take the time to train their interns and explain the big picture of project related tasks they are assigned.

I have been working at University of Central Florida as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I have been here in Physics department at UCF for more than five years now, I must say it has been memorable experience. People are super friendly! The campus is awesome, full of activity. It is overall very vibrant experience to be in UCF. My advise is that, you should always take part in different activities that campus has to offer, do not sit in your lab only.

    Cons

It is still an undergraduate university. Hey, you knew it is UCF not Harvard, so chill and enjoy.

I have been working at University of Central Florida part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

coworkers are supportive, helpful, the location is awesome compared to northeast weather... the compensation is on the lower part of the spectrum to my opinion.

    Cons

a lot of administrative bureaucracy, the ratio of faculty to staff is 1 to 4 which is very high to any normal research school that I know.

    Pros

Best team I have ever worked with. My manager is extremely open to suggestions and new ideas. Students are very receptive and appreciative.

    Cons

Lack of freedom (coming from a corporate environment) and "perks". Parking is expensive, lots of "top to bottom" changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Very supportive management team, great exposure to other on campus activities, really educational learning clinics and trainings, an awesome way to get involved in a lot of sports programs.

    Cons

Difficult work life balance, a huge time investment is required. You are paid hourly, a lot of competition to get hours and games.

    Pros

It's a very laid back job, that won't stress you out. If you don't want a difficult job then this is the place for you.
