I have been working at University of Central Florida part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I've gotten so many opportunities, learned so much, and had the opportunity to have real, hands on experience in my field while still being able to heavily focus on school.

    Cons

Nothing! I love it here. The only complaint that I could potentially have is that it's truly a family and a home here and that makes me want to dedicate so much more time to working.

I have been working at University of Central Florida as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Plenty of opportunities to publish
Very little administrative control (can go to lab and leave whenever)

    Cons

    Low pay
    If grants end, contract ends
    Too many paper forms
Employees expected to pay for parking

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update your technology, way too many forms to sign when they should be online.

    Pros

SARC is a great office to work in. They do a lot to show that they value you as an employee and put a lot of effort into employee growth and development. Everything is very structured so you know exactly what is expected of you and when it is expected. At the same time, it is it is a very independent job. Most of your hours are spent in classrooms.

    Cons

The pay is a bit low. Also, there are mandatory trainings at the beginning of every semester that can get kind of repetitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider changing up parts of the trainings so that returning SI leaders are more engaged and get more benefit out of them.

I have been working at University of Central Florida part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very depends on the class. Some professors may ask you do work out of your actual assignment. Most professors are nice.

    Cons

Gained teaching experience benefits your future job search in teaching positions at college.

I worked at University of Central Florida part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The University of Central Florida offered a competitive salary and reasonable work expectations. The bosses are hit or miss, but most of them are reliable and understanding people.

    Cons

The work culture was a bit too political for my tastes. As stated above, most of the bosses were very solid, but there were a few who played favorites or asked for participation off the clock in order to be rewarded for on the clock duties.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't play favorites.

I worked at University of Central Florida as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

This university has all the advantages of a small college, with all the accoutrements of a top state run educational institution. It has one of the best locations of all the state universities, and a lot of opportunities for a great life outside of the campus. The people really make the difference, and you can tell they love what they are doing.

    Cons

The parking situation is not ideal. Being a large, state-run school, there are a lot of protocols to follow, which can seem daunting and very time consuming.
I was both a student and an employee, which showed in the computer, but I was never able to log into the website as an employee, even though I was told I would be able to. This made it impossible for me to get an employee parking decal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think all employees should start off with a clean online account, even if they are, or were, a student, just to make using the internet resources more efficient.

I have been working at University of Central Florida part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -Great Work-Life balance
-Excellent upward mobility, and promotions. I've seen a lot of student assistants convert to accountants, and senior accountants within 3-5 years of working within the company.
-Understanding supervisors, and great overall culture.

    Cons

-Pay/Salary is very bad, but this could be due to the fact that its a non-profit/gov institution

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need better pay please
