I worked at University of Central Florida (Less than a year)

    Pros

Full tuition is paid, good advising and help to handle teaching coursework and handling evaluation of assessments. The comfort level depends on the professor you're working with.

    Cons

Poor communication in some cases causes much stress related to timely completion of tasks. If work starts unorganized, it takes a lot of work to get things done in time.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at University of Central Florida full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and holidays. Great salary. I resigned due to the long commute to work.

    Cons

My manager was an extreme micro-manager. The goal of the overall department went downhill over a 3 to 4 month period of time. The goal changed rapidly from "helping faculty through and after the grant submission" to focusing on the overall granted research dollar amount reported to the director. It was communicated that the director became upset when the "reported number" was not up to his standards. So the number then became a fictitious number to appease him. The expectation to put work before family or personal life is very present but not communicated verbally.

    Advice to Management

Realign priorities and focus again on helping faculty. Hire or advance employees who will become good managers not micro-managers.

    Pros

Flexible schedule is probably the best pro as well as great co workers and managers.

    Cons

The pay isn't the best pay in the world, but they do offer advancement opportunities for me.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing. My manager Sana is amazing and probably the best person I have ever worked with

I worked at University of Central Florida part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent experience working with a multicultural diverse group of students in the writing center. Scheduling was flexible and easy to work around class schedule.

    Cons

Overstaffed and management did not concern itself with the actual day to day operations of the center, allowing supervisors and senior employees too much latitude.

    Advice to Management

Listen to student employee concerns and consider empowering others, versus micromanaging.

I have been working at University of Central Florida part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work environment, great daily incentives and excellent on-set experience for entertainment industry.

    Cons

Due to being a freelance contractor the College of Arts & Humanities was unable to meet my salary requirements for more than a temporary period of time (6-8 months).

    Advice to Management

Co-op programs with Disney for film production graduates, I am specifically skilled in Post-production however those positions are non-existent in the work environment UCF has presented. This should be expanded.
