    Graduate Teaching Assistant

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    Pros-teaching experience
    -independence
    - Graduate Association for Teaching Enhancement (GATE) - student-led initiative offers great training, resources, and support to graduate assistants
    -Stipend

Cons-Stipend - very low but somewhat manageable because the cost of living in Cincinnati is very low
-Independence - very little oversight and support in my experience - you're just left on your own

Advice to Senior ManagementGraduate student housing is a must. Also, (I know that this is departmental) it would be helpful if graduate teaching assistants had more formal mentoring and support in their teaching endeavors.

    Teaching Assistant

    Teaching Assistant (Current Employee)
    Cincinnati, OH

ProsHigher than average pay for a teaching assistant. If the low living cost in Cincinnati is factored in, you get a pretty good deal.

ConsSometimes, it is possible that the undergraduate clashes and your own courses are clashing at the same time. It is, however, possible to cut out a deal.
