I have been working at University of Cincinnati

    Pros

Free time to do homework and relax. It is a friendly environment to be in and everyone is nice. The work is easy and goes quick. The hours are good.

    Cons

Gets very busy and overwhelming at times. Some of the tasks they make us do are worthless. Some of the students and parents that I come in contact with are very unpleasant at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use the talents of the students more and stop making them do worthless tasks. They need to make sure that all the workers share the work equally.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati part-time

    Pros

All basic facilities are available, moderate workload, friendly environment.

    Cons

Lack of oversight and mentoring, low engagement with grad students, shortage of study facilities, resources and in some cases, faculty, due to recently started enrollment expansion efforts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to be a top research university (do you?), let go of the laid-back attitude. Motivating grad students more will go a long way. Prez. Ono is doing a good job!

I have been working at University of Cincinnati

    Pros

There are a lot of WONDERFUL things about working on a university campus. There is a lot of energy. You are able to play a role in students' lives.

    Cons

There isn't a pay scale in place to ensure that you are compensated for what you actually do. Whatever pay you hire on with is generally where you will stay unless you are able to change departments and your position. If you enjoy your job, that is actually a bad thing because to get a pay increase you HAVE to change departments!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate those who actually work hard. There are people finishing degrees, playing on Facebook, and "hanging out" who make more than many who are working hard and can barely make ends meet. Pay people what they would get paid in private industry! As a university you pay less than what a first year teacher would make for someone with a masters is beyond comprehension.
