I have been working at University of Cincinnati part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with the freshmen, and very flexible hours. Developed a great network of both peer workers and underclassmen.

    Cons

Not a high paying job, also sometimes the students can be a pain in the neck. Also it is a little intimidating to start taking care of a group of freshmen

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None really, maybe give more opportunities to work with higher ups, or collaborate with other learning communities. I think it'd be awesome to collaborate more with some of my peers.

I worked at University of Cincinnati as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Good teaching facilities. Excellent faculty and staff. Located in central Cincinnati with convenient communication.

    Cons

The campus is not safe at night. Relatively low pay and benefits. Parking is expensive. Lack of leadership in the department and college level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more talented young faculty members and more efficient management style needed.

Great hard-working staff. UC has great health care and benefits.

    Cons

Politically driven environment.. Being a hard-worker and team player not as important as political connections. In need of great managers and leaders.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

People are very friendly. Supervisors don't micromanage you. In certain functions - like admissions - you can make your own schedule. If you love sports, being able to attend games is a plus. People tend to stay for a long time (20+ years) because it can be comfortable; this is a gift and a curse.

    Cons

Not very innovative with technology or design. It can take a long time for solutions to be approved because it's such a large university system (45,000 + students). The pay is not that great so you better find some purpose in your job to keep you motivated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep following the leadership of Prez. Ono. He is very inspiring and a model for how executives should treat their people.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Exposure to new learning opportunities, benefits - vacation and sick are great. Training is extensive, on average it can take up to six months for training to be complete. Always an opportunity to learn something new everyday

    Cons

Health Insurance currently is awful, UC advertises they are pro-research however they do not support all research. A lot of walking around campus - can be a pro or a con depending on the weather.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at University of Cincinnati as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, very friendly environment, constant growth opportunities, awesome support at all times; short great company to work.

    Cons

Once your contract is done, you are kicked out!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would keep excellent contributors, even if they are under certain type of government funded contracts, which ends after a while. I would keep these awesome inventors at UC and help them to help UC through supporting them while helping them to get their higher degrees and paying them to continue to do excellent work. I would recognize such people even if they are let go, because their contract ended. I would bring/rehire these extremely capable people back.
