    Amazing time with great people

Grad Assistant (Former Employee) Dayton, OH

ProsThe people there are very helpful and share insight as to the best ways to complete tasks. The staff was friendly and utilized a great mix or "work" and "play" when it came time for breaks.

ConsThe long hours and the distance I had to walk from my car to the building. Also the elevators rarely worked and were constantly trapping people in them.

Clear focus on Marianist mission & employee happiness

Research Engineer (Current Employee) Dayton, OH

ProsThe whole university is geared towards executing and living out the Marianist mission. Employees live out the mission in their work - especially in interactions with customers or students.

ConsAs with many Catholic institutions, pay can be below industry standard. A new raise structure is being implemented in the Research Institute that will award top performers competitive salaries.

Advice to Senior ManagementReach out to young employees with career development opportunities.

A fantastic company to work for, outside of salary.

Associate Researcher (Current Employee) Dayton, OH

ProsThe work is quite interesting, there are many areas to work in, the people are fantastic, management structure (at least at the Research Institute) is very flat and management is actively working on projects, benefits are the best I have ever seen, they truly care about your family life (great work-life balance)

ConsSalary is low, feast-or-famine as far as work goes (that's the nature of research though)

Advice to Senior ManagementRaise your employee's salaries some. Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing!

    Great place to work, but...

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    Pros- committed to values
    - listens to the ideas from employees at all levels
    - benefits were great!

    Cons- LOTS of politics
    - people are promoted because they are liked, rather than that they are good for the position
    - currently, the univ. is more focused on structures than people

Advice to Senior Managementwork to bring in fresh talent and new ideas as opposed to sticking to internal candidates. Be willing to embrace change instead of resisting it.

Excellent place to work. Pay not so good.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Dayton, OH

ProsTuition remission for self and family
    Laid-back atmosphere

ConsIncreasingly more political and less caring
Morphing into a very liberal atmosphere

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to better maintain "family" atmosphere and decrease political games.

    Changing environment

    Faculty (Current Employee) Dayton, OH

ProsLocation -- UD is in a medium size city with a very reasonable cost of living, good schools, and good transportation, The university has a beautiful campus with mostly residential students. Faculty have access to all campus events including plays, sports, music. Very friendly environment. An attempt to inculcate the "Catholic, Marianist" charism with an emphasis on community.

ConsIn the past few years, UD has gone from being a collegial place where faculty input was welcome and respected, to a university that is run almost entirely like a corporation, where employees (including faculty) have little or no involvement. Curriculum, working policies, etc. are not almost totally decided by a bureaucratic administration that seems to have forgotten its true mission.

Advice to Senior ManagementRethink the meaning and purpose of a university, please.
