I have been working at University of East Anglia as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible hours depending on lectures
    Friendly staff
Quick, easy sign up process, introduction and training easy to cope with and understand
    Free lunch
    Progression to ambassador possible

    Cons

You don't get to pick the days you work as a guide, you can only work on the open days, but that's all you can expect unless you go for ambassadorship

I have been working at University of East Anglia as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

great campus, plenty of on-site facilities, support for additional training; good work-life balance, no fixed hours as long as work gets done

    Cons

Quite a bureaucratic and administrative mess at times, lacking a good work culture, high turnover of young staff because of it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

invest in creating a nice organisational culture that makes sure you don't only have a talented workforce but a motivated one as well

I have been working at University of East Anglia full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great academic culture, fun and creative environment. Interesting projects to work on and great supervisor support and expertise. Colleagues are friendly and supportive. Good social environment.

    Cons

PPD courses boring and useless. Could do with more bench fees. Progress reporting bothersome and not always capable of identifying problems. Grad Student Assoc. (which handels social aspects) is a bit useless unless you're into sports or politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on people, less on advertising and building useless facilities.

I worked at University of East Anglia part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flexible working hours and independent working. You have a lot of choice in terms of how you work and what you do. Learned a lot about recruitment. Felt very appreciated by management.

    Cons

Some lack of organization skills made it a bit more difficult to do my job at times, but not a major issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you stay organized and communicate regularly with the student ambassadors.
