I have been working at University of Guelph full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great environment, for the most part a very colourful environment. Well maintained greeneries is both relaxing and visually appealing. Staff are generally pleasant to work with, and most people are very open and friendly.

    Cons

MacN, the chemistry building, is very dated and very depressing to work in - a sharp contrast to the rest of the university.

    Advice to Management

Keep maintaining the positive attitudes, it really does go a long way. I have not had enough time to fully breakdown all the advice needed for the management, except for addressing the cons listed above.

I have been working at University of Guelph part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its right on campus and close to where classes are held if you are a student. Hours are flexible and you can get to know professionals who can give you advice or contacts to further your own career.

    Cons

If you are working as a student, in my work environment I feel as if I am treated a little like a child rather than an adult. My supervisors are very easy on us, and maybe a little too easy since this does not represent the real working world well. In the real word, you are pushed, sometimes past your limits to challenge you. I do not feel very challenged.

    Advice to Management

I feel that I am treated with respect and fairness. However, I would love to be challenged some more so I can be well equipped for other employer who may push me more.

    Pros

Awesome people and environment in School of Engineering, supportive staff and faculty, nice polite and well behaved students. I really enjoyed working as a TA during my master;s program at UoG.

    Cons

sometimes workload goes high, specially during exams, and this pressure applies to TAs which is not appropriate. For example, marking, invigilating exams during weekend, ...

I have been working at University of Guelph as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

The hours in which were assigned were flexible. Overtime hours were allowed to be put in so holidays could be taken, this isn't always the case with a student job.

    Cons

The job it self can be very isolated, it is easy to get sidetracked so great time management is needed.

    Advice to Management

The University of Guelph is so large that sometimes it feels like your work is nothing. It really depends for the prof you work for what you get out of it.

    Pros

It is a great atmosphere, and everyone is super friendly. Because not a lot of people or students are around in the summer, you get to know people much better and see familiar faces all the time. It is nice to walk around campus and see a familiar face. It is a small community and i love it.

    Cons

Downside is that i work alone in the lab most of the time
