I have been working at University of Houston full-time for less than a year

ProsNetworking is a plus. You get to speak with different walks of life. You challenged at times to make things under pressure which makes perfect for me.

ConsThere are really no cons for this job. Menu cycle is every four weeks. Gets boring cooking the menu items at times.

It is a very good experience as the work is a learning process

Research Assistant (Current Employee)

I have been working at University of Houston part-time for more than a year

ProsOne of my best reasons is the challenges that comes with the work. The probability to manage your time well and complete all tasks before deadline

ConsIt could be time consuming and so demanding sometimes. The stipends is not so good to live off of it as you still have to pay your school fees from there.

Advice to Senior ManagementI believe the management should work on improving the incentives and stipends

A fun place to work when its available

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at University of Houston part-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat work when its available and you get to meet a lot of interesting people.

ConsWork is very random sometimes full time and sometimes part time. In order to park there you have to buy a full years parking pass and hardly use it.

"manager" of a program = administrative assistant

Program Manager (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at University of Houston full-time

ProsEasy job, lots of personal time, nice co-workers in my program and department

ConsNot much opportunity for growth unless you move to a different department, not much salary improvement unless you hire in high, too many menial tasks given, not much opportunity for creativity

School environment

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at University of Houston part-time

ProsGood selection of majors and availability of scholarships.

ConsSluggish administration and miscommunication between different departments. Additionally, the people who work there are often cranky.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork more efficiently and communicate amongst your hundreds of departments. When a student has to submit transcripts three times in a row to one single department from a university just 10 minutes down the road, you are doing something wrong.
