I have been working at University of Houston

    Pros

Flexible hours and great coworkers to work with. I get to do homework most of the time. Some of my job duties include greeting guest, making copies, scheduling meetings and maintenance of the break room.

I have been working at University of Houston part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The location of this university is without a doubt one of the best things about it. It sits in one of the most prosperous cities and so has ample opportunity to expand network and interact with people that further your career

    Cons

The hours were kept minimum if possible. There were no perks or time off per-se. Has a stigma for being a dangerous place to be around.

I have been working at University of Houston

    Pros

Academic environment, flexible work schedule, good benefits

    Cons

Leadership is a closed rank system. If you are not in lock step new ideas are shunned. No transparency, backroom deals, favoritism, strong arming. The academic culture has been suppressed in favor of marketing and appearance. Perception is their only reality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to listen and not dismiss ideas. Be honest, quit breaking promises to students and faculty. Get leadership team that is effective for faculty and potential new hires. Maybe a team that is competent and well trained and qualified.

decent salaries, access to industry funding for most of engineering related research topics, improving little by little and bright possible future!

I have been working at University of Houston full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I have had the opportunity to grow throughout my career here. The students, faculty and staff make working here a great experience -

    Cons

The right managers make all the difference - there are some managers that are fantastic, but others are difficult to work with and have unrealistic expectations, which makes succeeding difficult.
