    Pros

Cool, smart people with which to work, research, events, action. Always something going on to broaden your horizons. Athletics, concerts, seminars, what more could a curious person ask for?

    Cons

Required to do research, deadlines, cold weather. Pay could be better, but hey; I'm a graduate student. Our lot is to suffer. All in all it's a great life while you are here.

    Advice to Management

Allow your graduate students to buy into the retirement system. Not just the dumb, "everyone can use this for their personal savings" account. Let them buy into the state teachers retirement. We are teaching your classes, encourage youth to save for the future!

    Pros

It is a very friendly environment. I recommend working their. Great people, management and fun roles as an FA.

    Cons

Pay is minimum, hard to find shifts to cover. The arena does not give you a lot of permanent shifts but subs are always available to pick up.

    Advice to Management

Give more people an opportunity to acquire permanent shifts

  7. A good choice for on-campus employment opportunity

    Pros

    - Great place with lots of smart people
    - You can really focus on your career here since the number of attractions is quite limited
    - Still, you can find theaters, go to performances and such if you want to.
    - Fresh air :)

    Cons

    - Choice of benefits is a joke. You DO get benefits, and they are OK, but there is no real choice.
    - Your success depends on the group you join. Closed-knit community makes it harder to switch groups. But I believe that's true everywhere.
    - Expensive parking. In a place like UIUC one could expect parking to be free.

    Advice to Management

Provide more benefit choices (BlueCross Blue Shield of Illinois would be nice) or show that something is being done in this direction.

    Pros

This is a great place to live, in a world-class research center. Your peers and childrens' peers are all very success-oriented.

    Cons

Can't really think of any. If you are looking to contribute to a great community, come here.

    Pros

Decent salary and very good benefits, especially health insurance for individuals and the family. Friendly and helpful people to work with, including supervisors. Cost of living makes the area very affordable.

    Cons

Still is a huge bureaucracy. Getting answers to questions sometimes takes a huge amount of time. Turn around on expenses can be long and the paperwork (as well as online) is annoyingly cumbersome. The state of Illinois finances is atrocious and the pension benefits are being gutted.
