Great Benefits

Patient Services Coordinator (Current Employee)
Lexington-Fayette, KY

I have been working at University of Kentucky full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe main draw is the great benefits. Salary is good. Benefits are great, especially 403b matching, etc.

ConsManagement at the department level. I can only speak for my experience but my manager was the worst I've ever had and it is not even close. She constantly spoke out of both sides of her mouth and definitely played favorites. There was always drama in the office and there was always dissatisfaction and most of that tied directly to the mgr.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire someone who is good at managing and dealing with people. Don't limit managerial hires to clinical talent. Just because someone was a good RN does NOT mean they are management material.

Employment is not secure

Research Coordinator (Former Employee)
Lexington, KY

I worked at University of Kentucky full-time for more than 5 years

ProsBenefits were excellent
Coworkers were great!
Helping patients
Excellent work-life balance.

ConsConstant business reorganization
Too much soft money, no job security
Terrible business model
Displaced employees get no help
You have to pay to park on campus!

Advice to Senior ManagementStop rushing to play with the current hot trend in business, and take care of your employees. You don't pay enough to keep good employees/medical professionals with the state of instability in your business model.
