    Pros

    Great research
    Reasonable salary
    Good variety in the work

    Cons

Budget control and senior management (Dean of college, VC) have no idea how a university operates at ground level

    Advice to Management

Research doesn't always make a huge profit, deal with it

    Pros

The work life balance is good at UOL. There is good flexibility to allow staff to work from home from time to time. Generally friendly working environment.

    Cons

Pace of projects can be slow as there is a high level of bureaucracy. Project Managers often have to assume the role of BA, Test Manager etc. Can be difficult to get decisions on projects / buy in from non-IT stakeholders

    Advice to Management

Continue to try streamline processes. Things have improved over recent times. Focus on delievring the projects that are a higher priority and will delievr benefit. Be prepared to put projects on hold that are lower priority as the need arises.

    Pros

    Good sense of community
    Very flexible work hours
    Discounts and union merchandise
    Discount of university gym membership

    Cons

The pay is not great and there is almost no opportunity for promotion.
Staff are mostly made up of part time students so if you are not a student it would be hard to socialize with coworkers.
Not very diverse compared with the Leicester itself

    Advice to Management

Perhaps balance the amount student and non-student employees better. Encourage social events which do not revolve around alcohol.

    Pros

Some colleagues are inspirational, especially considering the climate, which is very political and horribly depressing.

    Cons

They bring young academics in from around the world and work them to death. They do not deliver on their end- no recognition, no promotion. Just endless pointless staff development courses to placate you. They take advantage of you every way that they can. They are happy for you to move on. They are happy to replace you with someone cheaper, another young fool. Run from this place.

    Advice to Management

You should look more closely at what goes on in the Colleges. I've seen some appalling behavior in my time. Just disgusting the way people are treated.

    Pros

Supporting co-workers, stress free work schedule and award winning library team. The only problem is that some students dont care or understand the values of what we offer them.

    Cons

Some of the challenges is to follow the library rules and regulations when approaching the students. The training provided is excellent.Excellent payments.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and let the Quiet petrol team be one of the unique jobs that Leicester Uni do have.
