    The Humanities are Underfunded

Graduate Assistant I (Former Employee) College Park, MD

ProsI was a humanities student working for the engineering school. Pros- got paid WAY more than my peers who were working in department. OK health insurance. Tuition remission. Good benefits in general.

ConsI had no coworkers due to budget cuts. It was extremely lonely. No union.

Advice to Senior ManagementFund the Humanities.

An Okay experience, but do not have too many high hopes.

Graduate Assistant (Former Employee) College Park, MD

ProsHealthcare benefits, tuition remission--which is extremely important for non-resident students--you can save tuition as well as your health insurance monthly payment.

The school has many opportunities--keep an eye on job posts and you will find some. Or talk to professors.

ConsAlthough opportunities abound, you need to figure out where and when. Job posts are not very well maintained--they should have taken down posts that are already filled. Need more communication to the students.

    Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant (Current Employee) College Park, MD

ProsFlexibility of schedule. Great networking possibilities. Chance to learn more about the back-end of the University. Ability to practice in-class skills. Constant practice of abilities and concepts. Close connection to professors and students.

ConsLots of grading, sometimes professors can be very frustrating. Not always great communication between assistant, professor, and students. you can only work 20 hours a week so basically for only 2 professors.

    DOTS Driver Review

Driver (Current Employee) College Park, MD

ProsI work for DOTS and it is a good student job. Good pay and student opportunities. You also get a CDL you can use anywhere.

ConsThis is a student job so it may not be the place to be when you graduate.
