    Pros

This job provides me an opportunity to engage, encourage, and influence young adults in their pursuit of life changing career opportunities.

    Cons

There are never enough resources to provide my students all the opportunities they deserve.

    Advice to Management

We need to develop more partnerships with industry leaders to enhance our students employment opportunities.

    Pros

Direct supervisors are accessible and supportive. Some full time faculty and other adjuncts offer selves as helpful mentors to newcomers.

    Cons

Adjunct lecturers out number Full time tenure track and non-tenure track faculty but do not get the attention from administration or access to benefits, and financial compensation is less than half that of fulltime faculty (pro-rata) .

    Advice to Management

    Take adjunct lecturers seriously.

    Pros

It is a great place to start for people who have little to no experience. Conducive environment for growth and learning.

    Cons

Only thing I can think of is its location, it's located in a rural area, so if you're the type who enjoys city living, it's not a place for yoj

    Pros

UMES has a great mission, which makes the hard work worth it. Slower pace of life on the Eastern Shore shows, where people appreciate hard work and it is easy to form good relationships with co-workers and students.

    Cons

Some areas have 'legacy' employees that may not put in the effort that others do. However, that is probably an issue with every institution.

    Pros

The University of Maryland Easter Shore has a beautiful campus in Princess Anne Maryland with enormous potential to be a wonderful learning experience for participants.
There are many opportunities to gain experience as a faculty or administrator.

    Cons

The university has many obstacles to its growth and development.
    1) Frequent changes in administration make it difficult to implement meaningful lasting change. 2) A business model that does not operate effectively with the surrounding community. 3) Many infrastructure problems.

    Advice to Management

The campus at UMES needs stable effective management team that can implement a change model for a highly diverse institution over 10-15 years.

  9. An accredited and excellent place of study and employment.

    Cons

Not many cons to working for UMES.

    Advice to Management

The tutoring center should receive more funding.
