    Pros

Good benefits including health care, tuition assistance, free supervision and CEU money. Social work is separate from case management.

    Cons

Salaries have not been increased with cost of living. High stress environment and risk of burn-out. Lack of community resources for patients.

    Advice to Management

Pay for cost of living. Don't discourage unionization. Reward employees. Lobby for more community resources for patients.

    Pros

Solid medicine, patient oriented, community focused.

    Cons

Lack of communication between upper management, senior personnel, and c-suite with staff. It not what you know but who you know. Company politics is the worst. It really rolls down from the top and there is no out running it.

    Advice to Management

Stick to policies. Work on the environment and moral. Ice cream socials won't fix it.

    Pros

Large teaching facility with great clinical experiences. Research-driven and strong community needs which keeps census high enough that you are not always being called off. Great patient ratios compared to other local hospitals. Pretty good relationship between providers and nursing staff.

    Cons

No incentives to keep experienced staff. Pay is below or at market but certainly not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Please find incentives to keep experienced staff. Raises are minimal to non-existent and new nurses are making the same as nurses with 5 + years.

    Pros

Meet lots of nice people Night time pay

    Cons

A lot of type A personalities that are only out for themselves. Be wary of critical care units as the staff in those particular areas can be bothersome. Seniority also rules the hospital; working hard doesn't always help in your advantage. Policies are outdated and some managers will make up their own for you (I.e. Shorter lunch times, shorter breaks, requiring you to do extra tasks meant for CNAs or nurses themselves).

    Advice to Management

Focus on updating policies. Focus on talking to the other part of your staff and seeing how they are handling the hospital (ie secretaries, transportation, the cooks)

    Pros

Great prescription coverage! The automated prescription machine is fantastic! No more long lines and very efficient.

    Cons

Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.

    Advice to Management

There is hope. Hire outside consultants.

    Pros

In general, there are many hardworking, dedicated employees. It is a large, teaching hospital so there are many different areas of you are looking for a change.

    Cons

Management, from mid level up to the C.E.O. are awful! No clue as to what is going on with their staff! Inconsistent follow through on policies, evaluations, raises, and disciplinary actions depending on individual managers. People in management positions who have never done the jobs they are supervising. Little support. Minimum raises.

    Advice to Management

Clean house at the management level. Listen to your staff.

    Pros

As a contractor, this heath care system allowed me to feel as though I was part of the organization. People were very welcoming to me during my time there.

    Cons

As a contract employee I really can not see cons. The employees seemed to enjoy working there.
