    Pros

They have the best of the best services for employees to learn where they work. There isn't an aspect of medicine that isn't present here.

    Cons

Management tends to be hard to get a hold of. This might be my experience or it might be pervasive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even people without too many letters after their name can have good ideas too.

I have been working at University of Maryland Medical Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The medical center is a top healthcare provider. I believe it's making strides in the right direction with team approaches and finding innovative technologies.

    Cons

Anywhere in healthcare is going to be kind of stagnant with pay raises. UMMC will low ball you. It is located in West Baltimore, so, if you don't know about it, definitely take a tour of the area before signing anything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay folks what they're worth. It's a hit up front, but it's worth it to keep good people and happy employees take better care of people.

I worked at University of Maryland Medical Center full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

As a new grad OT, I can't imagine a better place to have a first job. They provided me with a thorough training process (~8 weeks) long with one on one guidance. Even after this, they were always training me to different areas in the hospitals or holding different inservices. After working here, I feel like I can go anywhere and feel comfortable. Health benefits are also great.

    Cons

Salary is significantly lower when compared to other facilities in the area. You also have to consider parking costs which ranges ~$17-60 biweekly depending on garage you choose. Difficult to get time-off unless requested months in advance. Disorganized at times likely just because it's so large of a facility. Difficult to grow/move up with this company, limited raises for salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lot of micromanagement from senior therapists, however I wouldn't necessarily say this is a con, just a different style of leadership.
