If special equipment is needed for work, it is possible to order it through the university

ConsSalary
Incompetent people working in HR and IT services

Advice to Senior ManagementIt would be good to push forward the merge with Rutgers University. Parking should be for free for employees. Improve the quality of service of HR.

Watch your step!

Program Coordinator (Former Employee)
New Brunswick, NJ

I worked at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey

ProsState benefits for employees are very good, including excellent healthcare options and good vacation and holiday amounts. Many positions are within a union and so there is an element of job security to some degree; the unions have been more active lately in trying to preserve benefits (such has healthcare) that may be reduced due to the state financial problems. Salaries are reasonable or even above-average, but the only raises you will get are those negotiated by your union. Those employees without union representation may never get a raise, because they do have to be awarded any raise unless it is in a union contract.

ConsThe biggest downside is the culture of corruption. The may change with the new president, it is hard to say at this point in time. The second-biggest downside is incompetence; many of the employees got their jobs through political or family influence and cannot function very well. Another downside is a culture of entitlement; many employees become extremely upset when they realize that anything that is not locked up will be stolen within minutes--supplies, personal items, even food. Another downside is that because so many employees are miserable, there is an atmosphere of nastiness, depression, and frustration that is infectious.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe most important advice would be to fight the culture of corruption. Stand up for what is right, act ethically, and treat all of the employees with respect. Over time, things could change.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
