I worked at University of Memphis part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I suppose it depends which jobs you have. I worked two student jobs- one in the administration building, and another in a department. I felt treated with respect there, was not pushed to do things I couldn't do, and the jobs themselves were interesting in that I got to learn about things going on at the university beyond classes. I enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes operations of the University.

    Cons

Hm.... I don't like the atmosphere of complaining about work, and the "I deserve everything" attitude I found amongst the employees. I find that in a lot of places, unfortunately.

I worked at University of Memphis as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Make a difference in local community by enabling affordable college education

    Cons

The learning gaps students have due to K-12 educational institutions in the area. Adjunct salary is very low as in other places.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more focused on quality of education, rather than focusing on adding new buildings. This seems to be the focus at many universities.

I've learned useful information working for the U of M, but I can't continue working for wages that don't pay my bills.

I have been working at University of Memphis part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I love the environment, the staff is friendly and very helpful, and they work EXTREMELY well with a school schedule. The connections are paramount and the possibilities seem endless for a degree holding individual.

    Cons

The problem with working for the University as a Student Undergraduate worker is that the pay/hours don't cover my bare essential costs like rent, groceries, insurance, utilities, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is great at handling any form of grievance or problem, but it just all boils down to working three minimum wage paying jobs while going to school full time rather than working one bare essential job and being able to focus on school.
