    Pros

good pay and many of the workers are very friendly. The hospital seems to be patient oriented which is good because they are the "customer". Human resources also helps a lot with situations that may cause problems with other employs.

    Cons

In the department i work in the majority of the people seem to be fake which is terrible because it causes stress when they are nice to the patients then the next second they are rude to their co-worker.

    Advice to Management

no advice to management other than that when you have an employ send you an email or request something that you actually contact them back and not send messages through other people.

    Pros

Ability to grow after 6 months (unless if you signed a contract). Multiracial. Great people. Administration needs to improve in all areas.

    Cons

Many titles, little results. Overpaid execs, underpaid all others (nurses included). Too many interns affecting the communitys trust of our actual doctors. "D" average in sun-sentinnel.

    Advice to Management

Check your Directors. Too many with titles but many not leading, just managing. Our retention rate is ridiculous. It speaks in volumes.

    Pros

Close to home, exposure to teaching hospital.

    Cons

Low starting pay for new graduate nurses. Pay based on years of experience not quality of work, merit based. Union.

    Advice to Management

Need to improve hiring process. If you want to become a magnet hospital, staff should receive incentives to continue working towards this certification.

    Pros

Perks, a lot of o/t due to retention rate (especially Nursing), if you kiss enough butt you'll likely climb the evil ladder. Great to get experience, unsure yet if its worth staying.

    Cons

Parking. Union. Administration. Directors. Execs. Charge nurses with less than 3 years of experience? Baffled. If you never thought you'd be in politics, welcome to UMH. It is all political.

    Advice to Management

Stop the insanity. If you wish to become magnet you better wake up. Too many cauti and clabsi infections on patients. One patient dies, and a check is cut. Does this not say much?

    Pros

The facility is nice. Some of the people are great to work with. Once you start working there for a while you can wheedle your way in and out of work without problems.

    Cons

The surrounding campus is dreadful. I would suggest taking the metro to save money on gas. If not then you'll be driving in awkward surrounding traffic and you'll have to park in a parking garage.

    Advice to Management

Learn to let people go based on their work input. Keeping people on just ends up being dead weight on the team.

    Pros

Good floor nurses and staff on my unit. Plenty of overtime due to high turnover.

    Cons

Administration and management lack social Etiquette and diplomacy. Severe lack of support for nurses.

    Pros

Great people, educational benefits, paid vacation / sick time / holidays. Very flexible and understanding when it comes to personal life.

    Cons

No room for growth within, no consistency when it comes to employee evaluations, no incentives given for hard work , especially since the customer service staff is the backbone of the hospital.

    Advice to Management

Perform quarterly evaluations, and obtain optimum feedback from physicians throughout the year instead of annually. Managers and Human Resources need to use better methods when evaluating employees for better morale and job performance. Very poor skills at least with my personal experience.

    Pros

Diversity (with all of the medical facilities in the immediate area, you can met anyone from almost any country and experience their culture through stories) Pay Benefits (employee referral, health and dental if you use UM doctors) Extras (football game tickets, state-of-the-art gym, events with free food, etc.)

    Cons

PARKING (Good lord!); PARKING (it's that bad); and PARKING (I've had my car towed twice, broken into, dented twice while parked and working, and scratched). Doctors who resent your presence and patient advice Security precautions (few and far in between, but annoying when they do occur) Facilities (some of the stuff could be updated, but I understand budgets)

    Advice to Management

Management are doctors, so it's not as if they'll really listen or even look up from the phones, unless they are saying, "I gotta run."
