    Pros

Great co-workers, excellent benefits, friendly environment, room for advancement, wonderful college town, educational-assistance benefits really help out if you're wanting to further your education. College life on this campus is exceptional, from speaker's circle to brady commons, not to mention the excellent football team. You'll never be short a good time if you're out and about in Columbia!

    Cons

parking! There isn't much and you are always fighting for a spot. Great if live close enough that you can bike to work! Another downside might be the educational assistance benefit if you're not interested in it. This could be a downside because you aren't getting another benefit in place of this!

    Advice to Management

Stop trying so hard to please everyone, focus on running a business and not so much on making friends.

    Pros

The collaboration between the different research groups is very fruitful. Also, the new Life Science Center has state of the are facilities along with some world class professors.

    Cons

Graduate Students get payed less than minimum wage when all of the research hours are taken counted. No matter how much money you bring in to the University. But you do get a degree.

    Advice to Management

The ship seems to be rolling along very nice. Maybe less money to the J. School. Or maybe less money for fun.

    Pros

They offer decent medical benefits and when push comes to shove politics are thrown away to do the best thing for the students!

    Cons

The student body can be extremely rude and demeaning to staff and faculty - the good thing is that adminstration has your back in a tight situations.

    Advice to Management

The school will never reach the goals it is working towards with open enrollment. While it may be best for the budget and bottom line - sometimes it's better to make a change that will help prepare for the future better.

    Pros

Basically some of the best reasons would be "good environment, more students are present so you can get more beneficial and interesting ideas, to work on.

    Cons

I found very few downsides like interview procedures are very long and many phases are there, and the result too take time to come out. Job description does not match with what they ask at the interview.

    Advice to Management

My advices are very few like Job description should match with what they ask at the interview. Also they should tell us in advance all the necessary phases in the interview.

    Pros

Average longevity in my department is near 10 years Work/Life balance is stressed Very positive and encouraging environment Fringe benefits of working for a University are excellent Medical benefits are excellent compared to other local companies

    Cons

The University is a very large employer and as a result many departments and functions are very siloed. A company this size is not for everyone. There is a lot of redundancy due to segmentation of functions Funding is difficult to find at the present time

    Pros

While attending the University I held a number of on campus jobs and each one was more than willing to taylor to my class schedule. They recognize the main reason you are there is to complete a degree and make sure to keep the priority in order.

    Cons

Sometimes it can be stressful during finals week or midterms when all the students are in the computer labs and needing to ask questions when you are trying to do the same, yourself, and are bombarded with questions.

    Advice to Management

Spread out the late night shifts a little more, especially during finals week. No one should have to work more than 1 graveyard shift during that week.
