I worked at University of Nebraska–Lincoln

    Pros

All staff and departments are very nice and easy to work with. I enjoyed my time at UNL in various positions very much.

    Cons

Every job has challenges, but I have a hard time thinking of one for UNL. It was a good experience for me.

I have been working at University of Nebraska–Lincoln part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The staff and faculty were all very friendly to work with. The schedule was flexible, and every professor/lecturer I TA'd for was very understanding of my other commitments, ie coursework and research. Compensation was what you'd expect for being a TA. The health insurance was a better deal than I'd had in the past, and having access to the campus health and recreation facilities was convenient.

    Cons

There is a general issue with disorganization. They failed to get paperwork done properly on more than one occasion, and I was also given conflicting information on a couple of other occasions. There were also issues with organization on a course by course basis, which at one point led to me teaching students concepts in labs that were a couple of weeks ahead of where they were in class.

I have been working at University of Nebraska–Lincoln full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I work within Extension, off campus. I have great benefits, including 15 free credits. My office is laid back and my boss is flexible. I love my job and who I work with.

    Cons

I'm not sure if it's my boss's fault or UNL's fault, but I feel like we are the dusty corner of UNL. I wasn't given an 'orientation' type day to learn of all the benefits we have and had to learn as I went. I also don't know a lot about professional growth opportunities because I think most if it happens on campus. I think the work experience is very different on campus. I make peanuts for a wage, but again, I think it's because we are the dusty corner of UNL and don't have a large budget.
