I worked at University of New Haven (Less than a year)

    Pros

The lab professors were very understanding and very flexible. They understand the demanding schedules for science majors. They provide guidance to you to help other students understand the material, especially for paper worksheets. The orientation was very thorough so searching for additional solutions wasn't a problem. If you are a new lab assistant, you will be paired up with an experienced assistant.

    Cons

It was sometimes very difficult to work with students who don't understand the material

    Pros

The best university, a small campus that is growing. Easy to merge and at the same time stand out. I absolutely loved this university

    Cons

Nothing major, I just wish more investments are made in the field of research. As it will invariably bear great fruits

I worked at University of New Haven part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I had a life time opportunity to study and work at UNH. Amazing professors! - All my professors and my work supervisor were very knowledgeable, down to earth, kind and super friendly. I am very fortunate I was able to meet them, learned from them and worked for them!

    Cons

There is not a thing I would want to say negative about UNH, and I would do it all over again if I could.

    Pros

Not much to say about adjunct experience here.

    Cons

As a former experienced adjunct who has also taught at several other CT universities, and who had an outstanding rating from superiors at those other schools, UNH is a horrible place to teach as an adjunct...reasons: 1. My relevant. real-world experience in the areas I was teaching was basically ignored by several different department administrators. 2. One department administrator insisted that I "lecture, lecture, lecture", and condemned/ ignored the outstanding, interactive video tutorials that the textbook publisher made available (this administrator even participated in selecting this particular textbook!). 3. Never invited to any full-time faculty meetings, even though I was available during the time they met. 4. No decent office space was ever made available. 5. Student opinion of a professor was the only criterion that UNH administration seemed to regard (however, if you had high expectations from students and/or refused to allow them to take exams more than once, or hand in their assignments late, many students would rate you poorly, but that was never considered by some administrators). 6. You had to deal with some extremely academically marginal students who felt entitled to an automatic "B" because they were paying such a high tuition.

    Advice to Management

Advice to Adjuncts - Stay away!

  11. UNH is the most experiential and supportive place I have ever worked.
