    Pros

Fun and energetic fellow employees. The atmosphere for students is superb. Flexible and work around hectic school schedule.

    Cons

Staff could be more technical with their knowledge. One supervisor is condescending but she means well I think.

    Pros

When you are a student at UNT, Kerr always has an open position for you. Most of the workers there are friendly and it is easy to form a sort of community amongst your fellow workers. You get one free meal per shift. I you follow most of the regulations, it is pretty difficult to get fired.

    Cons

Low levels of sanitation. Harsh supervisors. Lots of pressure on people who are working around sharp, heavy, and steaming hot things. Working around food waste. When it is busy, you suffer.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your employees like they are humans, because they are. Don't discourage socialization when it doesn't interfere with work. Be more generous and understanding of your student workers. Work on sanitation and food quality.

    Pros

Great benefits and very flexible with schedule and time off. Wonderful coworkers. University President is trying to improve many aspects on campus.

    Cons

Stagnant salary with no potential for growth or promotion. Department chair is not involved or even on campus most of the time. There are no policies or procedures and it is very chaotic with no leadership or management involved. The staff and faculty that do show up for work are left to fend for themselves and despite the continued tremendous growth of students and our duties, no additional staff is added. UNT has a history of being fiscally mismanaged and my department is no exception.

    Advice to Management

Department chair needs to retire. Bring in people that actually care about our students and the department. Add adequate staff to handle the always increasing work load. The staff you have now are overworked and burned out. Have leadership and management that is involved and available in the department.

    Pros

good environment, good boss, well paid, the company will take care of you and give you an environment in which you can succeed

    Cons

can be tough at times in the sense that you have to work even during the finals week. Other then that there wont be a lot of other issues

    Advice to Management

The management should try and have less shifts during the finals week. They should also try and take care of students reviews in a good manner

    Pros

The benefits were excellent and the culture was friendly and easygoing. When I was an employee there was a significant tuition/fees discount offered, hopefully that program is still in place.

    Cons

Technical decisions were often made by non-technical higher-ups, and/or by committees rather than by the employees that implemented them. Career advancement opportunities are limited and I was led to understand that politics get worse and worse the higher you go (though I don't have direct experience with this). It was often difficult to perform as well as I would have liked due to the bureaucracy involved. Pay was lower than average, but acceptable -- about what you'd expect from a university.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees to make the correct decisions in how best to do their jobs.

    Pros

You have the option to obtain health insurance or not at this point. They are also moving towards paying tuition for all of the TA/RA/GSA positions.

    Cons

The administrative functioning of the school is not always the b st but it has gotten better. They combined some of the HR departments for UNTHSC and UNt and there wer issues for awhile. Not sure how the pay rates compare to other places.

    Advice to Management

Could probably stand to be a bit more organized across the school. Working towards taking care of the graduate students more will go a long way.

    Pros

I've learned beneficial library resource knowledge and made great friends while working at the University's library.

    Cons

The pace can quickly change from boring to busy. It can be quite stressful when a supervisor is bearing down on you at the same time.

    Advice to Management

Try to stay positive and keep the student's life in mind.
